Offroading in Bangalore - The "Storme" that it drew

The planning for this off roading started a month back and few agreed, few dropped off but what a "storme" blew today.

Re: Offroading in Bangalore - The "Storme" that it drew

It was nice to meet up some old friends, the venue was decided after we all met up and decided to have some fun instead of driving to any place, so the convoy of seven magnificent vehicles drew quite a few eyeballs especially with the elections to be held the next day, I did not take too many pics but here are a few of the lineup

Some of the more interesting pictures will be uploaded by the others.

Re: Offroading in Bangalore - The "Storme" that it drew

What an awesome Saturday it was. A few things from my side - on this entire event.

1. Missing Attention to details, not once, but Twice :

LSK had clearly written to me with directions and timings, but I had missed attention to that, and off I set off from home, towards a completely tangential direction. Halfway through, when LSK called me on my whereabouts, though he wanted to swear on my, he was still polite enough to guide me, and guide he did - clearly asking me to take a road that cuts out after Jalahalli Cross.

If having missed attention earlier, this time, despite clear instructions on the phone, I decided ( the male ego - of not wanting to ask anyone for directions ) to take a road much different to what LSK told me.

Result : Landed up at the assembly point empty stomach, and ofcourse, the grudge of others since I kept them waiting for long. Apologies again friends.

2. Despair and dis-belief turning to desperation and decisiveness :

I am watching the Safari's ( the 4 X 4's )go into the dry lake ( I think ). I check that place, and tell myself - no ways will my 2 wheel Safari get through.

LSK tries to get across that ramp - his 4L not engaging.

Whilst LSK is fixing his 4L issue, our Storme was warming up and clearly brewed up. 3,4,5 attempts - no. Almost there, but not there yet. 6th attempt - about to make it, but not yet. We had to use our strengths ( and , mine on an empty stomach ), to push this back. The 7th attempt, and the Storme clears it.

Not sure how many beats the Storme's heart skipped, but Prajeesh clearly missed several.
Offroading in Bangalore - The "Storme" that it drew-photo1.jpg

LSK is done with the fuse that he had to set right. He clears in the first attempt.

Even before we stop applauding that effort, I was looking for Prem ( he was lined up next ). No Prem - he and his car have disappeared. Whereto - oh, there he was, happily cleared this stage, without any one of us who could even give a glimpse. Wow ! - some effort that Prem. So, no pictures of Prem's 4 X 4 clearing this.

By then, I check out the stage. Confident I can "Enter" into. There was another place you could exit. I tell myself that I should try.

First attempt - go half way and lose traction. No 4 X 4 for me. No regrets too. Second attempt - good traction, good angle, and the right speed - and I cleared this. All I could hear was someone yelling " holy C@#P".

It did give me a high. I now can understand the "high" people get on off-roading.

Boy ! that gave me a huge grin and confidence, and off I go in again and come out clean, once more.

Ofcourse, I am hoping someone would post that picture of mine here.

What else will the Car enthusiasts do, when we meet up - Discuss Cars ofcourse, and we were doing that till such time our friendly Murthy came with a carton of Fresh Grapes. Tasty, lovely, refreshing.

Overall, a great Saturday, great experience, lovely day spent with lovely cars owned by lovely people.

Re: Offroading in Bangalore - The "Storme" that it drew

All right, my turn now.

Expectation to this trip - Nothing since this is my first such a meet, honestly all "strangers" except Hari who is probably a common face for most of us.

Morning - All kinds of delay. Almost none including me showed up on-time opp to Columbia Asia Hospital and poor Saurabh, Manju and Prajeesh along with his son. My sincere apologies to all and a special/kind apologies to Prajeesh's 5 yr old son.

Breakfast - Swathi Garden, where Pavan was supposed to be present and OLA!, he is not there [still]. But, yeah, came in next few mins.
All Idly+Sambar breakfast. It clearly proved we are not just similar with Safari, but also in our breakfast

Then, comes the Hero, the fulcrum of this trip, Mr. Hari [LSK]. Started off towards his farm and on the way, joined Mr. Krishnamani alias JK [jkrishnakj].

A lot of photos already shared and I thought, a few might do more justice including the one that shows off JK's climb and my "post" climb since none were completely ready with the camera by the time I took off. Its my bad. I will keep myself in position in our next venture.

Re: Offroading in Bangalore - The "Storme" that it drew

Now my Turn. Our dear LSK send me a message that Team-BHP members are planning to meet for a Safari meet and join. I immediately replied saying I am in. I was waiting for the day. My son wakeup early in the morning 5:30 to come with me for the safari meet. Reached Hebbal by 6:30 and waited others to come in. First daddu reached followed by arvind and Prem. LSK and others joined with us for break fast at Swathi Garden. Then we followed LSK to reach the destination.

This was my first meeting with team-bhp and what a wonderful event to begin with. Me and my son loved the group and hope to meet again.
I think the pictures will do the rest of the story. Once again thanks to all and thanks to LSK to organize a memorable event for me.
