Palar Challenge started as a team based competition, with the aim of getting offroaders from all over INDIA, working together and competing with each other. This has been demonstrated ample number of times where teams with 2 Vehicles, have teamed up with Individual Entries. Recently Pune Pathfinders + Krishna Reddy (hyderabad) 2013 Waynad Offroaders + Prabhu AV (BODA) 2014 The Palar Challenge concept, SS, cross country runs, and format has been with a team of 3 Vehicles & 6 Competitors. i.e 7 Special Stages with 8 Cross Country Legs a Day covering 20-56 Kms For the 9th Palar Challenge (TPC2015), we are introducing the option for the 4th Vehicle (Support Vehicle + 2 Persons), the need for this has been amply demonstrated in TPC2013 & TPC2014. So for us to run TPC successfully (On the Ground) we require a Competitive Team of 3-4 Vehicles and 6-8 Competitors. All categories 4x4/SUV/ATVs will make Team Entries of 3 Vehicles, with the option of a 4x4 Support Vehicle. The Support Vehicle will follow the team of the Terrain, throughout the event. From the Organizers Point Of View The advantages of reducing the team size to 1 or 2 vehicles are many. a) inflated team entries. 12; 3 Vehicle Teams will become, 18; 2 vehicle Teams b) More entries as not everyone is able to get 3 Vehicle Teams. c) Lesser number of Trophies to give to the performers  The Disadvantages of reducing the team entries to 1 or 2 Vehicles 1) Lesser prepared teams, since its easier to make entry. 2) Fewer eyes on the ground, reduces safety 3) More Teams (irrespective of size) EQUALS to more STARTS, thereby delaying the whole process. 4) Recovery and Rescue operations will get delayed, accounting or the Size of Terrain covered each day 20-56Kms. SUVs don't need winches or MT tyres, but do consider the fact that you will be competing. Regards, Arka | ||
