Offroad Junkie had organised The Overland Monsoon Bootcamp on the 13th of August. It was held on a private mountain and about 100kms away from Mumbai.
This event was open to all makes of 4WD SUVs and entry was restricted to only 4x4 equipped 15 vehicles. The aim of the the event was to teach 4x4 owners, how to navigate though difficult terrain in their SUVs to get to a picnic spot or campsite.
Meeting point was at 7.30 am at McDonalds Palm beach road.A one and a half hour later we reached the venue and got registration and indemnity filled. We got a goodie bag which had snacks, stickers, water bottles, electral etc.
We were given a small briefing on basic 4x4 techniques and asked to reduce the tyre pressure to 20 Psig. The trail started with simple tasks and gradually it became difficult.I had my endeavour on the rock mode and 4Low engaged all the time.I had to engage differential lock on few tricky situations. The endeavour performed really well and completed all the tasks effortlessly.
Lastly there was a steep hill climb, which only my endy, fortuner, two thars and safari could make it.
It was a very memorable experience, and the whole event was very well managed.
The overland monsoon bootcamp,
This was the most difficult part of the trail, which I did it in the first attempt.
Allan and Tejas gave me the instructions, to keep up the momentum, switch on to rock mode with 4Low range, diff lock engaged.
Important point here was to switch to sports mode, and shift to 2nd gear from standstill and then shift to 3rd to gain the momentum and once on top again downshift to 1st gear and we made it easily.
My Endeavour again crossing a ditch filled with mud slush efforlessly.
With the terrain management system, all I had to do was to switch to Rock mode and 4Low engaged and switch on the diff lock!!

I have tried to compile the whole event in two parts, here is the first one,
This the second part of the event, where we head to a very steep hill climb which only few of the SUV's including my endeavour made it!!
