Which is this club Vikram ?
I too do a lot of off road events in DUbai, including many trips to Liwa. How do we post pics here, I will post a few of my own desert trip pics.
I am posting a pic here of the Moreeb hill climb I had done in 2007 in my then modified LWB V6 3400 cc Prado.
A desert Safari driver goes no faster than 80 to 90 kmph and that too on flat tracks. On the dunes one hardly crosses at 20 to 30 kmph unless it is a long gradual climb where one may hit 45 to 50 kmph.
These tourist safari tour drivers are a brash, uneducated, inexperienced lot, one better stay away from.
Now that I have learnt how to post pics here, a few more from the desert and of my modified SWB Prado that I use in the desert these days. Also a few bad stucks in the sand for all to view.
The last trip pictures you have there, from the formation of the desert dunes it appears to be Al Faqa area just off Al Ain Highway ?

Hi,
The speeds I have mentioned are 100mph.....
The time I was in Dubai it had rained the previous night....
Thus the sand was not very soft as it is always (See in Pics there is no loose sand anywhere).....
thus to give us more satisfactions of the trip the driver was doing these Speeds.
I have or am not mentioning he was dune bashing at those speeds but at certain stretches he was going to such high speeds
Hope you understand and not that I am trying to brag as nor the car was mine nor I am to gain anything from the driver for advertising his car....

your SWB Prado has normal/standard bumpers.....shouldnt you have those smaller modified bumpers to make it easy to drive in the desert sand, the similar bumpers you had in your LWB vehicle?
Those ARB bumpers are very heavy. Adds weight to the vehicle. When doing extreme desert like negotiating Liwa sands every Kilo of excess weight counts.
The original plastic bumpers of the LC 90 ( Prado ) worked fine for me. When I broke them I bought another from the junkyard, simple!

if you are looking at a real performance meant 4x4 then weight is you enemy; although the steel bumpers are good to carry the winch and thats why i am using the warn bumper, but with the winch it is 100+ kgs for me and then i also had to install the heavy duty coil springs to make sure my ride does not bottom in front because of the additional weight.
