Cheers,
The NIOC seems to spend considerable time and effort ensuring recce of new trails,...this was a new one !!! We had our fair share of lost jeeps (the legend commandeered by yours truely being one of them),..and enough dead ends where we had to turn back in the wilderness.
The uncertainity being half the charm !!

Ok now I know who Gotzuk is !!
His Gypsy was the best I've driven till date,..the sweet sound of the rev limiter kicking in on every gear just added to the symphony. I was doing pretty well after the crash course he gave me,..till I had to back up while a tow was in progress,..where I managed to get Gotzuks Gypsy nicely stuck. Had to be towed out...!

I went thru the Blr OTR thread, AWESOME fun!!!
I cant wait to ride with you guys Khan_Sultan !

Yes. That's true. Finding new trails adds to the magic & experience of OTR's.

Hey, next time say hello to Sarvinder/Romi from the off-roaders of down south and do remind them of this OTR experience they had when they were here down south. I am sure you will be able to spot them in the pictures of these 2 threads.

100% . In quite a few OTR's here we have had such 'getting lost', 'dead end' experience.

Here is one such thread
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/4x4-of...s-cooking.html

At one time, we ran into a trail that narrowed down into a dead end and it was a nightmare to do a U turn there as it was a very very narrow trail and to make matters worse it had rocks and we were some 5-6 vehicles one behind one other and going back in reverse was dangerous after some point.
It took some royal beating to our vehicles to make U turns in the thick bushes there.

Cheers,

I am so gutted that I missed this OTR! Just got back from Goa the night before. Looking forward to the next one now! I have had the sump on the CD17 engine modified in the meantime to ensure no further knocks from the diff. Should be good now, fingers crossed.

Yes, it is..
Got a fiber half cabin installed about 5 months back
and fabricated a tonneau made of hollow pipe sections
with aluminum sheet riveted to the top. The luggage
remains pretty much dust free and the gypsy now feels
lots better during my interstate runs at ton up speeds.

cheers

Great. Need some details here man. Why don't you post some pictures & a post of what all you have done. I am sure lots of Gypsy owners would love to hear from you (me included).

Would like to see close shots of your gypsy and the back area where you have the spare wheel.

Cheers,

MODS please split threads from post no. 41

MODS I did not expect this casual post (starting from no.41) to breath a life of its own. Kindly split the thread starting from post 41 with the title NCR MINI REPORT 14th DEC 08.
Thanks
Naveen

Nope
It wasnt driven by an army official but our own jeeper from Gurgaon. His jeep is as original from Mayapuri and he has not even got it painted and is just stock only the tyres added, i think.
Really nice piece and he told me that he was on the lookout for 8 months before he spotted this one.

Yes, but are we allowed to retain Military registration once the Jeep is sold? I was also wondering if an Army Officer was participating

No way. I don't think you can retain the army number (and colour too) once it is for civilian use. Better not to go to the road with the jeep in this form.
