4-Wheel Drive Related Books

I came across a interesting site (Directory /Auto/) while doing some online research for my Pajero and downloaded a Ebook "4-Wheel Drive in Southern Africa" from the following link Directory /Auto/--General--/Books/4x4/book/

The book is very informative for a novice like me and covers many different aspects of 4X4 Off Roading.

Just stating the list of topics covered for your reference.
1. CHOOSING A 4X4
2. VEHICLES - THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY.
3. AUXILIARY EQUIPMENT
4. WHEELS AND TYRES
5. DRIVING
6. VEHICLE RECOVERY
7. TRAILERS AND TOWING
8. THE TRAIL
9. VEHICLE MAINTENANCE AND BUSH REPAIRS
10. NAVIGATION AND COMMUNICATION
11. CONSERVATION
12. THE MARKETPLACE

I have initiated this topic so that we all can share and help each other with other books, articles and reference material related to 4X4.

For the beginners, this link provides a quick ABC list, especially the scan of the '63 owners manual. There's also Khan Sultans thread on getting started without 4x4.

Some other threads that make for good reading:

Apollo tyres along with Autocar have come up with this book, ordered a copy and received it last week. A very informative one indeed.

Try navigating from the top link and then drill down. That should work. It woried for me.

Another useful ebook from the same site (330 Kb file, available at the top link referred to above in my quote): "Toyota Guide to 4wd". Nice simple summary, 18 pages.

I have this book called "The Military Jeep Complete" which i bought from USA.

Its is a complete technical manual with detailed illustrations and diagrams of the Willys MB and Ford GPW.

If anyone's seriously interested i ll try and upload a scanned copy of it.

Re: 4-Wheel Drive Related Books

Some statements in 5002.pdf are not true. Running a low-compression petrol engine on high-octane fuel WILL cause long-term damage to the cat-con (from unburnt fuel being thrown out of the exhaust port) and excessive carbon deposits on the piston crown and cylinder head.
