there is a fully rebuilt gear drive engine in Cochin.. rebuild warranted by a leaking oil hose..
otherwise there are enough of the scorpios out there with 2L kms running.. so not really a huuuuge issue.
having used the army 550 and scorpio with the 30 spline rear axles, i realize they are faaar superior in strength and tolerance than the 19spline in the full floaters..
The meshing is clean and no whines..
Plus you can find a army LSD and plonk it :)

Dear Shubhendra -
PLEASE DO NOT BUY GEAR DRIVE NEF ENGINE. PERIOD. I will explain you when we meet, probably in the coming week itself. :).
Dear Prabhuav - it is a much bigger and HUUUGE issue than you think, I request you to believe me Sir! :D.
Best regards,
Behram Dhabhar
After driving more than 4k kms Found few problems with the top end rpm. Engine lose its power After 25000 rpm. Solved the problem by step by step modifications in Intake,Fuel, exhaust.
First removed and rerouted the Air intake.
Custom intake with 3 90degree bend and 2 L hose bend.
New Short intake pipe from filter.
New Electronic FP to support FP.
Changed the exhaust to a bigger one. He is my classmate in school , now started a new workshop just opposite to my Home.
Did few tests and works fine. Then the wiring got a short circuit and changed the dash bored meter console to new one for accommodating newly added rpm meter.
Removed the soft top and modified the Thar ST to a rally type for the upcoming season.
Fabricated Custom mount for Hi-Lift Jack
Next is AC and a Dyno test.

If having a jeep was not enough your new friend opened a mechanic shop opposite your home!! Talk about moving a inch closer to be banished from home!
Sreejesh,
You must've developed a new liking for school reunions now :D
1) What size dia is the exhaust pipe?
2) Does the electronic FP only help with starting? How does it help with top-end?
Amazing amount of work has been put in to get this Jeep to where it is! :thumbs up
Cheers,
Adi

Hi Adi,
I modified the same NGCS exhaust pipe. not sure the correct diameter but bigger than the 550XD , old jeep ones.
EFP works as a support to FP. FP don't need to work hard to pull diesel from tank that is FP just need to take the diesel which is already available from filter by EFP.

I also have a EFP fitted as initially I had starting problems after extended durations of being parked. Did you keep a separate switch for the EFP or is it direct on ignition? I have it directly but the only issue is you may not want to keep the ignition on without starting the engine for long durations.
After fixing AC did few Offroads but the one with Jeepers Of Bangalore (JOB) at selam was the best private Offroads I ever participated. I am happy but not fully satisfied with the current combination at above 3000+ rpm.

Now send to my Trusted Mechanic Kuttettan for the Stage III Modifications
1. turbo + intercooler
2. NGT 530 + BW manuel
3. Rear Scorpio Diff with LSD (4.55)
4. Front Manuel Locker

Sreejesh Ji,
Can you please elaborate above statement, what is the problem you are facing ?
Shubhendra
Shubhendra Ji,
Putting a turbo on a NA engine is not that complicated But removing a Turbo from a engine that is especially designed with Turbo is complicated. When I did dino on my jeep I am surprised (disappointed) with the 50% power lose.
Bought locker from Gowtham for My War horse Its pretty cheap and hope will do the job. As I am from a village Its difficult to get Parcels on time. Called Gowtham and he send another locker directly to My Mechanic by a BUS. Installed the locker and waiting for the delivery of Jeep tomorrow.
Torbo charged the engine and the engine sound itself changed from the Tractor Di. I am going for a Bigger Intercooler with custom Radiator :D.
NGT530 and Rear LSD put on Hold as I am going to Shekleshpur For a Proper test on Turbo & Locker.
That Army Brake light Assy was keep hitting on rocks so thought to do a custom lights.
Hi Sreejeshmp Sir,
I have utmost respect for your vision and thought process for your jeep.
I have followed closely and with admiration you meticulous and step by step build.
Seeing that you have chosen to go with the locker from Gowtham is something i am very interested in.
I would love to hear about how it works out for you and how it holds up.
Thanks,
L.o.R
After participating Shekleshpur OTR with family I understand serious offroading is not a safe and practical thing with family.
Now the plan to maintain jeep for both On road and serious Offroad is not going to work for me. So making the jeep as a Offroad vehicle and Converting Sierra in to 4WD for normal offroad events and a CJ8 Scrambler replica from my MM Pik-up for farm use.

With the standards set up by Rfc india for offroad vehicle preparation, the gap between the competition spec vehicle and our beloved Jeep/Gypsy is quite huge.
Since you have already done so much to get your war horse to the shape it is, why dont you consider to build your war horse to be one of the best built Jeeps around. Once they go RFC style, it will be another dimension from your current build. Just my opinion. :)
Btw how was the performance of the lockers? Feedbacks please.
Regards
Barani
Getting the list completed.
1. NGT 530 + BW Manuel - Done
2. Rear Scorpio Diff with Eaton MLD - Done
Eaton works Brilliantly.
3. Front Cable locker from Gowtham - Done and it Works good.
4. K&N Appolo for better breathing.

5. 8000lbs water proof winch .
Used Army 550 rear late as winch plate.
6. Maxxis Bighorn with Steel wheels.
As usual I finished the modification on night and very next day drove to Coorg to attend V5 Offroad Event. I was sure I wont get better track to test to the max on performance and reliability of the build.
On the way to Coorg at Tholpetty Wild life sanctuary.
I forgot to fill diesel and got stuck in the middle of jungle :Frustrati then I felt its not a good sign. My friend Ribin and wife with His 550 was with me and they brought Diesel we filled and drove to Gonikoppa.
few pics from Event
It performed well and my confidence level increased and the result was this
I entered to the water crossing without Snorkel. I am sorry My Jeep that was my mistake.
Engine stalled and winched out from water and towed to Garrage. I was lucky again that Mech at Gonokoppa is My Mechanic's brother. I kept the jeep there and went back to home. Nothing happened except the Starting motor got Stuck,Battery Drained and Water entered in to Diesel tank. Got everything fixed and drove the Jeep back to Home.
