Team-BHP - Jeep --- The untold story.

Thatz one monster machine and he is one proud owner.
He has maintained it so well ,from the looks I would say.

If possible post more pictures of the interiors too... Thanks a lot .

What is the FE of these vehicle ?? Just curious..

Jonga with its' original engine is one thing which rarely(to the power n) gets stuck. The driver has to be capable of handling the machine....it doesn't let you down!
Army was fielding their rally teams on this jeep till Gypsy came in and this was phased out.
I wouldn't say that it is very tough to pull it out once it gets stuck.....it is a jeep afterall!
The heaviest load we used to lug on this was a RCL with its ammunition and crew of 4. It was easy taking it over the dunes and boggy fields with all that weight.

Fuel efficiency of the JONGA varied between 3-6kmpl of petrol.

Yes it has the orignal 6 cyl petrol engine. The power it has is amazing, and the engine is quiet silent. It is used regularly, you can say thrice a week.

I have not driven it, only travelled in it as a kid; but I can still remember the powerful sound of the Jonga engine :). It had some 100+BHP, and that is amazing considering it is based on a 1952 Nissan Patrol; AND it had a 3-speed gbox :). These early impressions on me probably are what have made the Nissan Patrol my favourite (dream) off-roader of all time !!!

egangsta-that was really good pics of the jeeps and really well maintained,i've always felt jeeps and its variants are an amazing lot. i do have a mm540[pls check my garage],which i use for my plantation purpose,i bought it brand new in 1994,its done 230000 km,still in good shape,i'm still awestruck the way it can take on any terrain with ease,the only downside is it gives me mileage not more than 10km to a litre.but then,old faithful..... been doin his job for 14 years.

AFAIK Karl Probst was a freelancer, Bantam hired him in a hurry, he drafted the design within a day, when it was shown to military, his design was the closest that US army had in mind, hence he is considered the inventor of jeep.

I am surprised to see the Jonga still in service today, i thought they would have all been auctioned off by now. Are you aware of other Jongas, which may likely be auctioned in the near future?

I have a truck which has a Dana 44 axle. I haven't found the number of splines on it yet but is it safe to assume that if I ordered a diff lock such as what your company makes for the 44 it would universally fit all 44's. Meaning in your opinion would a Dana 44 supplied to Tata (a local Indian truck maker) for a truck be same in carrier design than 44's sold elsewhere?
