How about IAF's blue colour(dont know the exact colour name) with black windsheild?

Good luck with the restoration. Will be following this thread religiously.

The IAF's blue I mentioned was painted on Arka's '85 CJ3B, which I believe is sold now. Not the one shown below.

Some images , from my collection

How about this colour? It looks kind of similar to the Landrover Pink Panther paint scheme. The colour goes well with the beach sand!! (Pic taken from the M&M Warriors thread)

Gogi bhai, are you planning to buy that engine for 8k and fit it as it is? Isn't it better to rebuild your engine and install it. In that way you would have the complete knowledge regarding your engine's state of health inside out which could help you avoid nasty surprises. It's just my opinion.

Well ive hot the engine without paying anything. The condition of my engine is really bad. As it has been overhauled according to the plate on the block, the Crank is due for a change too. Thats why i thought even if i paid a bit more for this engine at least its got all parts and its working. I will of course have to rebuild this one too, only it will be faster. I have offered 8K but his final offer is 10K which i think is not bad. I have sealed the deal for 10K...Provided this engine is in good working condition.
If this engine is good then ill rebuild this one. At least I wont have to get eveything.

A Deep Maroon would be good too. A lot of American Jeeps have this colour. One more suggestion, please look at the CJ3B Page (Google Search), I'm sure you must have come across this site. Lovely Canadian
site for the 3B. Look at the owner's pictures. You find 3Bs from all over the world with various colours. Looking at the pictures, I'm sure it will be easy for you to decide. I have had a lot of experience with the 3B as I owned one for several years and it was my daily transport for a decade or more (You can see mine in the 3B Page -Jeeps in India ) .
Maybe an engine rebuild with new parts would cost around 20K but you know whats gone inside and a competant engine overhaul machine shop should be able to do a good job. The crankshaft of course is an expensive item but plenty in good condition are available in the second hand market. This could always be procured and ground in the machine shop and bearings set accordingly, and thus you can use the old block without spending money again on an old engine and working on it. Just a suggestion.

Boy, how could I ever miss this thread?

About the colour, Gogibhai, make it clear what do you want it to look like or like last time you'll start a poll and use your veto power skills .

There are too many jeeps with military colours (no offence to anyone), I'd love to see a simple blue jeep (like R.G's blue Willys).

My $0.02 (this excludes the ~12% inflation).

Thanks Dussey
@ Salilpawar.

I dodnt want to use a Military green colour only because its done to death. Also ive heard that the Military has een objecting to the use of the colour on civilian vehicles.

Here is the colour I want to do the jeep up in:

A Jeep At Last. Now What??!!-paztailgate.jpg

I could also consider Dussey's jeep colour which I think is brilliant:

A Jeep At Last. Now What??!!-42gpw.jpg

Considered these too but somehow i feel, brown does not suit the CJ-3B

Gogi-bhai,

I think the color in the 3rd pic in your post above suits your jeep best.

if you are keen on this shade have a look here
TM9 Ordnance Products - Paint for Vintage Vehicles and Equipment
these guys make a range of olive drab paints for wwII vehicles.
if you like them, i have paint samples on metal plates from the same
guy for all the olive drab lusterless shades. i could send them
to you (on a stricly returnable basis, of course) for an exact match.

cheers

Got some new parts for the Jeep and handed it over.
Basically the counter gear, Gear box packings and bearings.
Needed suspension stuff now so have located shocks, tie rod ends, etc etc.
Have some updated pics which I took today.
The chassis has been stripped and is in the process of being cleaned and sand blasted.
So it the body which requires some urgent attention as you can see in the pics below.

Chassis cleansing

The body in line next.

These are the colours what ive decided to choose between finally.
I find the colour in the first pic better

My preferance no1

A Jeep At Last. Now What??!!-rafecasviasaarmyrear.jpg

No 2

A Jeep At Last. Now What??!!-42gpw.jpg

As opposed to this which I initially was bent upon. This is now History.
