Hi......Intro from an "Old" Jeeper...

Hi,

Great to see how the 4x4 forum has shaped up on Team-Bhp. Congrats to one and all. Time & again, I have visited this site for look at write-up's, reviews etc.

Found some time today, thought I would share my off-road world with you guys, for those of you who havent seen it. Have attached pictures of how the Jeep was when I picked it and how it turned out to be a year later.

I picked up my Jeep CJ3B with the legendary Hurricane engine in 2005 December. A little write-up on how I got the Jeep can be read at Jeep CJ3B

It was around the same time, that Jeep Thrills was born. I am the third member I think. Its come a long way and still has miles to go..

It took me almost an year to get it back to what it is looking like now. Of course a lot of passion and time & not to mention money has gone into it. I loved every bit of it.

It has participated in numerous off-road sessions and has done some serious stuff. From the past 8 months, its at my friends place as I am in California currently. Missing my Jeep badly after seeing all the fun happening out there.

I have detailed every step of the restoration & modification. The same can be seen at 1967 JEEP CJ3B RESTORATION & MODIFICATION . Also detailed are other tehnical modifications.

More off-road pics can be seen at Picasa Web Albums - Vivek .

Yes, I am also one of the moderators of Jeep Thrills from Bangalore, known by my email ID as hurricane.vivek@gmail.com, and I am also the owner of the group at Orkut.

More later.
Vivek

Hi Vivek,

Nice jeep. You do much at night? Major lights you have there. What kind are the big ones? Lots of watts?

Welcome back, Rainmaker (rather than aboard). I recollect some older threads of yours : Hi and CJ.

Great to hear that your CJ3B is holding up well.

Nice to see your here Vivek. Folks who spend time in the 4x4 section will have a lot to learn from your experience. Great to have folks like you contributing to this forum.

PS: So when you returning back from US? I am sure you must be itching to get your jeep out for an OTR near Bangalore. Pearl valley was the last one that I remember going out to an OTR with you -- and that seems soooooooo long back.

Cheers,

Hi,

I just realised the FIRST POST on this forum is Mine !!!... way back in 2005.

I even lit the 4 x4 spark at the Overdrive forum, there were a few takers and then it fizzled out.

Yes, Khan my hands are itching to go off-road

First "Official" Jeep Thrills Meet & Off-road at Muthathi Forest

Line up of Jeeps at Jayanagar in Front of Sukh Sagar Bangalore. Close to 10 Jeeps turned up. I almost ended up killing myself that day.

The front brake hose had a leak and the fluid had come out. I didnt realise that until I hit the top of the hill (in the third pic) and had to hit the brake (mistakes ironed out over experience). It just gave in like it was never there and I came rolling down . Presence of mind told me to take a left as i had seen a small tree while on the way up. turned and hit the tree and stopped.

It was a day of reckoning. Arka was there for that OTR and he patched up the brake hose and we made it back home in a single piece.

The "Submarine" at the 2006 January Annual Event

Prashanth from Kerala. Dont why he went it, but he did. That jeep had Water in every single possible hole. From within the confines of the engine till the exhaust it was WATER all over the place. We pulled it out and had to leave it behind.

They bought it home in a truck the next day. That Jeep is currently in the hands of Chetan, in Bangalore.

My jeep was stuck in "Cement" quality muck and it took nearly 2 hours to get out. It was finally Winched out. The first time we saw the Winch in action.

Off-road Action..

Pulling people out of the muck. The Hurricane stood tall, as it pulled out a CJ340 and a Classic from the Swamp.

The day I got labelled "Hero with the Hurricane" !!!!!

And a "Will it Topple" Pic..

OTR...After the Engine Rebuild..

The engine rebuild and running in took nearly 6 months and newbies cribbed about my vehicle being "OFF-ROAD".

"Forgive them for their Ignorance" is what I did.

The Jeep had just done 1000 + kilometers, when I thrashed it. Taking "On the Rocks" just before the second Annual Event at Kolar.

The "Sholay Hills" Offroad & The day I pulled out a Range Rover

At Ramnagaram. This was fun & cool and steep smooth rock climbing. It had all the elements one could ask for in an OTR .

A Range Rover had got stuck and the Hurricane Just pulled it out with ease. The Winch was not working, but we used the winch line and hooked it up to the Hurricane. Everyone was wondering what just happened.!!!!
