I am back....My jeep after the phase-1 build . Took it to the hills and happy with initial performance. need to test out properly over the next couple of months to have this to my expectations. Different animal altogether and now I need to acquaint myself to the changed for better dynamics of this vehicle.

Thats a great looking jeep Kandisa. Where did you get the roof rack? is it custom fabricated?

Thanks. Yes the roof rack support structure was custom fabricated at a local Mahindra authorized service centre where all the mechanical upgrades and maintenance of the jeep are taken care of. The rack separately was made at a different place, which is supposedly specialized for this, but they couldn't execute the thing i wanted. It will undergo some modification soon. Incidentally the THAR Expedition version, released later, also sports similar type of set up.

Dear Bhpian’s and respected senior members of the blog and moderatos,

Am not good at writing blogs so please excuse me :)

I have been a member on team-bhp since 2006,(thank you moderators for not deleting my ID) and have never posted till date but do follow this blog on different topics and keep searching the blog about my doubts related to vehicles, have been always successful with the search result on team-bhp rather than any other sites or blogs related to cars or bikes.

Now to my dream..

Had a dream of owning a jeep since child hood just because of its looks and I never knew what a jeep was on technical side as I have just seen Govt. jeeps as my mom used to be in the High court and few other relatives in Govt services.

Time passed by and jeep dreams were buried deep in the heart,My first car was a Tata Indica.Few years back I moved to the middle east and all the passion for vehicle was left behind in kerala due to work schedules .

Seeing all the modified wranglers, TJ 4 x 4 and off roading events here the long buried dream of having a jeep have started to pop up. So I started to search on my fav blog, better say favorite blog of all the vehicle enthusiast,I went through all the MM 540 blogs and understood from all write ups by jeep owners that owning a jeep was like being an enemy of the state(family)but again "it’s a Jeep thing no one will understand" was my reply to all of them . So did not inform parents of the plan,My wife was totally against old jeeps and friends gave me warning“ if u are not here it will rust and all that blah blah ..But I managed to convince everyone .

I have been reading the 540 blogs from 2013 but being out of country I felt it really difficult to source a 540.

Let me cut it short …

Initial Idea was to source a old MM 540 ISZ petrol and install P.S , A.C, front facing seats etc but could not find any in Kerala.. search went till Bangalore (friends helped me out) and CBE (Naveen jeep studio helped out and quoted too) and search was taking so long and my holidays were closing in ...

At last in March 2014 found a 94 model 2 wheel drive MM 540 which was modded with,

>> XD3P engine.
>> Front with coil suspensions.
>> Disc breaks.
>> 5 Speed gear box.
>> Dash of 118 NE.
>> A.C & P.S.
>> Front facing rear seats.
>> Wrangler ( TJ ) type tail lamps.
>> Good Year wrangler AT/R tyres (50 % balance)

Owned by a doctor from TVM Second owner) , I found the jeep on team- bhp classified and have seen the same jeep on a post by member Foby.Sebastian (http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/modifi...-kerala-4.html).

The pictures are as follows ,Previously the jeep was white in color and all I did was the paint job, painted it black and new soft top was fixed which was flop due rain … It LEAKSSS:Frustrati

Please help me and let me know how and where to do a neat smart soft top in cochin with out leaks and retaining the coolness..

Our trip to Scriptures Union at Avalanche, The Nilgiris

I think since my jeep got baptised into 4x4 yesterday afternoon and all systems worked fine, its time I posted her pictures here.
