Guess what you say is true and the way they place the brand. Skoda is a cheap mans car in the ROW, whereas in India, it is a premium car.

So a bad reputation abroad makes a good car, a bad car in India? Skoda has a history and thats the reason why its a joke abroad. And not really what it is today.

yes, that's absolutely right.

Abroad, Skoda's have a long history of actually being Skoda. Whereas when they came to India, they were part of the Volkswagen group. They were new in the Indian market (so, no heavy baggage of bad history), and owned/managed by Volkswagen. The Skoda's launched in India were re-designed by Volkswagen. So the Skoda's that we started getting in India were essentially VW cars in disguise : I think they are entitled to a fair amount of premium in their pricing !

Since Skoda was aquired by VW a couple of years they share platforms and engines. Essentially a skoda Laura is a cheaper Golf/Jetta. Skoda superb is essentially a cheaper Passat.

Well Indica Vista and Fiat share same engine so does this make Vista a Cheaper Liena or Palio ?

Only the engine is shared between the Vista and the Liena. In the case of Skoda and VW, there are only cosmetic differences, Mechanically 80% of the parts are interchangeable including the power train and suspension.

Scorpio Getaway 4X4

Got a chance to see a Scorpio Getaway 4X4 up-close yesterday. It looked good . I did not know that the Getaway had a longer wheelbase than the regular Scorpio. The Getaway, sold as a Bakki in SA sells decent numbers.
