Jeep 4 x 4 GS M&M CJ 38

Mods: If a thread on the above exists somewhere here, then please merge it. I couldn't find any.

4x4 Gurus & Gyanis,

I need to know more about - Jeep 4 x 4 GS M&M CJ 38 model as to the specifications of the engine, its tranny, its sturdiness as a OTR vehicle etc. All details are welcome. Is it a SWB or a LWB? Any pictures of exterior and interior would be appreciated.

Anyone who owns one here?

I would have no idea. The sheet that came to me (don't ask me from where..) had this written. I copied. Could be a typo error too. hence I posted here....

Ok, now that you never heard of it, I presume it should be CJ-3B. So how about the details? What does GS stand for?

Search for CJ-3B under this forum. You will be overwhelmed with the amount of results returned.

GS?? Hmm...with the amount of combinations MM Jeeps came with that could mean anything. I will try and figure that out.

See if that sheet mentions anything about which year model it is? Would help in knowing what GS is.

Sirjee i remember seeing a similiar thread couple of years ago and wonder of wonder it was from you only and i found it. All the details you need here is mentioned in there.

Is this still the same?? or a different auction. The similiarities are baffling.

@simply_sunny001 Looks like you are right ! The list seems to be off army disposal vehicles. But then gd1418 said don't ask him from where he got it

And Yes it should be a CJ3B - the earlier model which the defense forces used to have before the advent of the MM 550's.

It is definitely called a CJ3B.
With the limited knowledge I have, I can say that an original CJ3B is a petrol Hurricane engine with 3 FWD & 1 reverse transmission. It is a SWB I think 81-81".
They were manufactured till the late 80's or early 90's.
Till late 1960's they were imported in India and were referred to as the WILLYS CJ3B's and were LHD's These had the WILLYS stamped above the front grille.
Then M&M started assembling them in India and these were the JEEP CJ3B's with JEEP stamped on the front grille. These I am not sure but were around till mid or late 1970's
Then M&M started manufacturing them in india and there were referred to as the M&M CJ3B's

There are many such CJ3B's in NCR. Infact I have 2 myself.
1st 1963 or 1965 WILLYS LHD and
2nd 1985 M&M CJ3B
They have not been restored as yet as I have just recently purchased them.

More information can be had from The CJ3B Page
Cheers

It is not an auction list. Army is disposing off some surplus.. That's only what I can tell at the moment.

Quite right Spitfire. But the CJ38 stumped me out totally. Hence the query.
