It looks much better without those extensions.

The Frame bumper only covers about 70% of the front exposing the front wheels. Many leave it like that and it looks good.

I want to keep the extensions as traffic in many parts of Calcutta are pretty congested. Even most of the new cars get dented by unruly autos and by other means. Taking off the extension would mean the front fenders are exposed. The extensions will provide a little bit better protection.

Secondly, there is an extra bumper available that can be fitted on the main bumper. But the original bumper looks more solid and better and hence was looking for some solution without having to fit another bumper or remove the extensions.

Again, if I still keep the extensions there will be a very small gap between it and the tyre.The point is- will the tyre really hit the bumper during articulation?? If the front suspension is completely flat then during articulation the front wheel will move backwards as the shackle is in the front which means there is nothing to worry. However the leafs were raised 1/2 to 1 inch. So I was wondering how much will the wheels move forward for this little raise in suspension.

Guys I am really confused ..please suggest

The front bumber corners came with MM550 military version along with 7.50x16 sandgrip tyres fitted. I strongly believe that they will not touch the tyres in anycase as their design is like that and if at all you think for some reason the tyre will rub with the corners, better loose them.

The front tyres on the army 550 hit the fenders when the vehicle is crossaxled. I can only wonder what happens when snow chains are on...

This is an M&M product and such things are to be expected. The cosmetic bumper extensions also run very close to the tyre. A slight bend and they will make contact.

It has been a long time since the last update. Note the last post. Really cant believe he will not answer any more of my queries. I have been seeing this avatar since the time I started to follow the threads in Team-Bhp almost a year back.

Work progress has been really slow as there was another jeep waiting to be painted before mine. Raingod took his own sweet time to slow the pace more. Thankfully its done now. Last weekend we applied Oil primer. Hope to complete the Putty work and also fit the soft top scissor by this weekend if no delays are made due to rain. We are going to apply 2K putty.
Planning to buy the battery today evening or tomorrow.Please suggest about it.
Sorry .. no pics this time as I think I lost my mobile phone.

I will suggest the Amaron Hi-way 80 Amps battery. Bit expensive (around 4k i guess in my case after some deductions for the old battery) but will be good IMHO.

If I want to do some addons lateron like music player/ mobile charger / two extra lights will 80 amp be enough? If I opt for more more powerful battery do i need to change the alternator? Sorry for the stupid questions though (dont forget I am a newbie in 4x4

)

Thanks Kandisa, Tarkesh & Bigman for the update. I bought the battery yesterday. Almost all the dealers quoted approx 4400-4600 for Exide express 80 amps. Amaron was quoted by one for 5200. I sealed the deal for SF Sonic 80 amps for 4400/-.
Was a bit confused which one to buy. Called up some friends and also Uday sir. He prefered Sonoc over exide telling the better technologies by SF. Even the dealer and my friends told me the same. I was looking for 88amps but they were bigger in size so settled for 80.

80 amps will be good enough for the add ons you have mentioned. Yes amarons are bit more expensive and more so when you don't get multiple dealers to bargain. The one you bought is also good one. A reliable battery, properly serviced alternator and new electrical wirings will make life easier

Last evening I was looking for tyres with 3 dealers. My choice is between 205 and 215 size.I got only one model. Goodyear D-sport 205 / 80/ R16. price is around Rs. 3800-3900. Please give me some reviews about this tyre. Will buy them after a month thoug.

I haven't heard of this tyre, but it doesn't sound like an AT tire. For your ORV (Off-Road Vehicle), I guess you should be looking at AT tyres.
