Pics coming shortly.

'92 Mm540 Dp

Sorry for the delay. Home PC issues.

This is what it used to be about 3 months back:

Being a Japanese Sedan owner, this is my impression. Not that I am surprised.

* Overall Simple but hopefully functional package
* Tonnes of rattles and lots of smoke
* Crude unrefined Gear box with the 2 Lever rickety Transfer case
* Lots of basics have to be sorted out.

During restoration it supposed to get a set of wide axles. :( Very very disappointed that that was not possible.

Immediate mods :
FWH
Front Bucket seats (any donors?)

Hopefully more extensive mods later. Maybe a trip to Chennai.

Open for Comments, Observations, Suggestions and more.

Nice one Ironwolf. I like your choice of color

What happened to the wipers? Not that they add a lot of value per se I can tell that from personal experience of driving a MM540 in rain without wipers

Is the electricals / wiring completely done or still in progress.

longer shackles are OK for light vehicles like gypsy, but for a 540 you will have to replace the shackle bushes frequently, especially for front. also will cause lot of stress on the perches of the chassis when you take turns at high speed.

The Electricals would meaning headlights/rear lights/indicators + cabin light are done.

Immediate work to be done.
  • Entire wiper set up is wiped out. Need to fit everything. :(
  • Rear Tailgate crashed on the highway it seems due to weight of the tires. Needs to be welded and reinforced.
  • Steering needs to be tightened. Lots of freeplay.
  • Banks to right while braking.
  • Engine bay padding + Firewall padding
Aqua, Could you clarify your statement on the longer Shackles. Cause I dont know if these are stock or not.

Also dont plan to turn at high speed with this boat. I have something else to give me that fix.

For me, it appears to be longer than the stock. also the vehicle seems to be lifted in whatever way that is possible with minor changes(re-cambering and lengthy shackle).

Hi Iron wolf,
Congratulations!! Your jeep is looking good and tall!! 7.00 16 helps! Shackle extension is good, but i feel stock is best, to prevent shackle reversal etc. Stock has engough articulation

How much did you pick that up for? I feel by what you have said, you have lot of work to do.

Welcome to the joy of building the jeep!

Why not? You can go for a FC differentials for wider one

Nice looking Jeep after the mods! Jeep has got a good height.... Have done any mods to increase the G/C like shackle lift, SPOA, etc???

Please add this one to your list of things to do, i observe that there is no gap between the grill metal and the chassis on your jeep. This will make noise when ever u hit a pot hole as chassis flexes. There is a mount under the radiator cross member. Your would have broken. Please get it fixed. Also please add skid plate ASAP. Change the side step design to the commader type. The ones you have it will bend under severe off roading or best remove it if you dont have to seat old ladies in your jeep

P.S- I liked the colour. Quite close to mine.:-)
