do not buy used tyres that too 10-12 months old!
tyres are the only thing that has the contact of the vehicle with the road/dirt, so better wait and buy NEW only!
safety ALWAYS FIRST!please:
Hi Kaushik,
Great Buy ! (and build).
Your engine heating issue - Do study carefully before investing in new radiator. My vehicle developed heating up at slow speeds and idling at redlights even without an a/c. Turns out the mechanical fan slows down with the engine, and I had no heating issue at speeds.
Got the radiator cleaned, solved half the problems. Plan to get an electric fan instead of the belt driven one, should suffice.
Have fun !

shelf life of a tyre in indian weather conditions, indian road conditions and actual usage is 3 years!
Heating Issue:
Even my new Gypsy had heating issue when engine is idle. the solution I fixed external fan and the problem is gone, once stuck in traffic jam just switched ON the fan the temperature drops.
Tyre:
I use 215/75/R15 Geolander AT tyre, aftrer running around 25K i can vouch on it done many OTR's and driven in Himalaya no issue. It depends upon driver what he wants 215 or 235 so the choice is upto you to decide.
I go with Sha on heating problem. City driving often heats up the engine as the air pull by the fan behind radiator is not sufficient. Fix a fan in front of the radiator, run it when you see heat mounting. This is a better solution.
KSM,
go for yokos 215 75 R 15. They are the perfect fit for gypsy.
Pricing would be around 5k for 215 and 5.5 k for 235 size.

That is what i plan to do finally. Have sent you a PM.
Ok here is my choice for the tyres
Left to Right - BF Goodrich - Geolanders - Continental - All these tyres are 235/75/R15 (but i am going to install 215/75/R15)
Based on the pattern and material used for these tyres what would you your answer be to the following questions -- Which tyres you think are the best if one has 60% on road and 40% off road running??
- Which tyres you think will have better ride quality on the highway??
- Which tyres you think will last longer??
I think on the tyre and rim thread someone mentioned having BFG AT's on their jeep and that even after 40,000KM there was still half the tread left. That is what influenced me to get them when we got tyres for out Jeep, I think at the current rate it will take us 20 years to knock up 40,000KM in our Jeep so can't confirm myself that they will last that long.
YOKO excellent on highway, very less noise and good cleaning in MuD but got very soft side walls. So you might get sidewall punctures during offroad!
I had them twice in 4 OTRS!

Well am sure that
BFG's are good tyres for OTR's but the question is
how good are they on road/highways?? Quote:

well most of the OTR guys in Bangalore are using the Geo's, havent heard them complain of this. Could it be a coincidence that you had punctures in 2/4 OTR trips??
