@parm and joshguy: Thanks for the kind words. I am just trying to do my best with whatever little knowledge I have about these wonderful machines. Need a lot of input from all you guys to correct me where I am going wrong.

@jeepmkd: I am not sure about the authenticity of the dash. As I have not seen many Willys 3Bs to spot the difference. It will be helpful to have some elaboration on the differences between a Willys and Mahindra dash.

The tail gate has a spread out WILLYS logo stamped on it. Also the Registration Certificate that I have recieved has Willys as the manufacturer of this particular vehicle. Infact it could be a Mahindra manufactured Jeep and hence the difference. I would really appreciate more help in this regard.

I have also spotted the difference in the head lamp shrowds by looking at the pictures of another Willys 3B from a thread here. This Jeep has recieved a lot of replacement parts and Jugaad treatments by the mechanics over the years. The headlamps and shrowds could be one of them.

@ v-16: Thanks again for the wishes. I have tried to resolve the issue but will need more help on it. I have sent the details in my second PM.

Pictures of my first Jeep- 1987 Mahindra CJ3B

Here are a few pictures of my first Jeep. It is an Ex-Air Force Mahindra CJ3B. These pictures were taken recently. The Jeep now has a brand new CJ340 Body tub and Canvas top. Will be posting a few more pictures of the before the paint job. With its original body tub and Blue paint job.

Good job, however i personally would have liked the earlier blue colour on it rather the white; more because it was an ex-airforce jeep

@ Harjeev: Thanks Harjeev !! I got the Canvas top and doors done from Mayapuri itself. I had to shell out 2500 Rs. The fit and finish is clean and suits the Jeep.

@ Hemant and Pavan.kadam: Thanks for the appreciation. I also love the way the color has turned out.

@Soumen (Kandisa): Thanks Soumen. The color has been chosen by the current owner of the Jeep. Dr. Sharath Verma (Doc Freak). So I am attaching a few pictures of the Jeep in Blue Avtar. I clicked these right after I spray painted it in my home for the first time.

Update on Willys

The work on the Willys has finally restarted. My painter Irfan had fled to his hometown and returned after a two week long vacation. He has started preparing the surface of the body tub. It has received coat of body filler to cover the uneven body surface which received a good dose of Sanding to smooth it out. This was followed by a coat of surfacer and putty and some wet sanding to further smoothen out the surface. The was given a coat of the base coat to have an idea about how the Jeep will look in its final coat. I am thinking of going for a shade or two darker than the one you see on the Jeep in the following pictures.

Hello All,

Here are a few pictures of the Willys after we sprayed the final coat of paint on it. I was earlier planning to go for a shade of green on this beauty, but was not able to find the shade I had in mind. So finally I decided to go for Sahara Brown shade in metalic finish. I think this color has also come out really well. What do you think guy ??
