A jerry can next to the spare tyre is the way to carry it, but not at the expense of losing the door functionality, I guess. Alternatively, the thing to do would be to carry one in the rear along with luggage.
Do any of you that have jerry cans ever have issues with petrol pumps refusing to fill these? Is there any law/regulation about this?

With Luggage NO even small leak will smell inside Gypsy i am telling with experience, during Ladakh trip i had mine inside and its diffcult to drive with smell.
Yes there is regulation but not to Jerry can only to plastic can even while filling in jerry can keep it down(grounded) while filing otherwise static shock will lead to fire.

An alternate for the bolero mirrors would be Maruti omni mirrors. They are larger, look similar, and are way cheaper.

@rossi
My Mm550 is at the M&M workshop (Mahindra Automart) a company owned multi brand workshop. So I think that they should be able to source it. If I dont get them there, then Ill take JAyD's suggestion and put Omni's mirrors!!!

Harjeev, If you want LUMAX please let me know. BUT Please do not use Omni's mirrors. Its taller but looks puny and you need to alter the holes on door. In fact i broke one of my Lumax (One moron Safari Guy who thought roads are his Dad's property and banged on my ORVM and i had to chase him down), and never had a problem to get a replacement. As Rossi told, Market is full of Cheap quality lookalikes.

Thanks

Hey Sree,
IMO even for the Bolero's one will have to slightly alter extra holes...
The ponint on the originals is very valid, my friend got the cheap ones fitted in frustration of waiting & got them removed in a few days after he started getting headaches (thats what he said).

Rossi, Harjeev has an MM550 not a Gypsy so he don't have to alter holes. But he may need to do it if he decides to use an Omni ORVM.

Thanks

Yep, I got mine from Apra Auto in Gurgaon. The GM out there is an auto enthusiast himself and will go out of his way to assist you .

Yes that's the one. Are you also looking to buy a new gypsy?

I've been looking forward to buy a Gypsy ever since my college days and that was way back in the late 90s.

But everytime I purchased a new car the fundamental question arose.. that how well would the Gypsy serve as a family car.. and the answer was obvious.

I am thinking of selling off my Esteem and maybe buy a Gypsy... have to work out the finances yet... its recession time you know ... I initially wanted an SUV like an Endeavour, Safari/Scorpio but they are way out of my reach.. so yes planning to buy a new one and getting inspired everyday reading the wonderful stories on Team BHP.

Just wondering how well of a terrain cruncher is a stock Gypsy ?
