Your Montero is quicker (0 - 100) than the currently sold facelifted version. Even though the new engine is a commonrail diesel. Reason = Same horsepower + your car is lighter by 150 kilos (09 models equipment list is long). IIRC, its atleast 2 seconds quicker than the common-rail Montero.

the 2007 manual does 0-100 in 11.6sec
2009 manual also does in same time
the automatic version as expected does it in 12.9secs

But according to ACI the 0-100 time for MT version is 15.27secs with a top speed of 171.

I'm not buying that. And more relevant to the Indian Montero, its got a power to weight of only 68 BHP to the ton (162 BHP moving 2380 kilo kerb weight). Even a Tata Manza has a better power to weight ratio. Fat chance the new common-rail will do it in 11.xx seconds.

Thanks for the clarification. I wondered why my car seemed quicker than the new CRDI Montero. Now I know.

It looks like the support rod for the rear door. The spare wheel is mounted on the door which will put stress on the hinges, to reduce the stress on the hinges and to prevent the door from sagging the have that movable support bar.

Also - it looks a lot neater than a pneumatic arm in place.

Looks like the car was well maintained. Lucky you in many ways.

It comes with a separate CD player?

GTO is spot on. I was checking the old ACI and they have quoted 12.52 secs for the old montero which is quicker then the current Montero (15.27secs) by almost 3 seconds.
