Yogesh,
Knowing your requirements, GV would fit anyday better than a Gypsy.
I am afraid, if you are heading towards Gypsy, no doubt you'll like it but not your family. End result would be similar to what happened with your Red CL340. So, please think about it. IMHO, this GV looks definitely a nice buy and will fit your and your family's requirements better.
Seeing Sudev & Samurai's GV experiences, this seems to be pretty decent in both off-roading & mile-crunching departments with good creature comforts. My vote is for GV keeping in mind your family's requirements.

Edit: Oh, i see this is an AT. Now, i am not sure how good it is going to be while off-roading.

Thanks Deepak,

Family just loves this one and so do I. I took it straight to the offroad destination and tested both 4H lock as well as 4L. The AT liver has manual gears too, while offroad we simply need to shift from Drive mode to either 1 or 2 (that is first or second gear)..

That too for for an auto gv.
Keeping in mind that the new gv costs around 14 lakhs.
This one is definately a steal.

I feel the AT costs less then the manual in resale market due to poor FE.

The seller has a Fortuner booking which will expire in 4-5 days and if he sells that then only he will buy it.

Time to dig all GV threads.. (Ground clearence 200mm- wow is that true?) It was an awesome vehicle to drive. I think I am sold.

If you getting this one for 7 lakhs just go for it. It's a comfortable and reliable vehicle with very decent offroadibg skills. Unless you plan to do extreme stuff.

which model is it? and do check the service records.
And once you read sudev's thread about his GV you will fall in love with this vehicle.

What are you doing yar? You are buying a car after selling your CL340? You will reach NCR but what will you do after that? Park your GV and enjoy off road in other 4x4's?

GV is a soft roader and is best among soft roaders available in the country in terms of off road ability. Samurai owns a GV but bought a CL340 for pure off road duties. You have sold one and buying a GV....kya yar!

See you need a vehicle that can do both atleast 50/50. I see the only 3 choices for you considering a budget of 5 to 6 lakhs-

1. Bolero 4wd
2. Safari 4wd (TCIC/ DICOR)
3. Scorpio 4wd (non CRDe)

I still suggest buy a new Bolero 4wd. You will not mind scratching its bottom as it is dead cheap to maintain it and is comfortable for long journeys as well. Safari TCIC 4wd if found in good shape can also be a good on and off road partner but maintenance would be a touch higher. Scorpio 4wd is the best bet but you will have to extremely lucky

Please dont look beyond these 3 vehicles for your requirement.

^^^ + 100 to Vinod. Yogesh, you are on a peak of confusion. Yeah, i can understand that. CJ340, Scorpio, Gypsy and GV. Take a Yoga class and decide what you and your family want, you canot fullfill both of your dreams in a single vehicle, unlees Behram sir is giving us Thar.

PS: I have travelled 700+kms in a single day with my family in my 550, trust me they were much comfortable comapring to my earlier Hatch.

I am not much of a fan of autobox. But at 7 lac its a steal, and at 43000 kms its still a baby.
Even if it needs little bit of tinkering and the coming tyre change, its still a good buy.

Yes, its a good deal but not to compare with Gypsy. GV is not a complete off-road vehicle.
For any kind of damages you need to pay from your nose, but not the case in Gypsy.
When it comes to family comforts, you need to have a separate vehicles. But never look in for a vehicle which will fulfill both.

Yogesh - I agree with Vinod. Buying a GV as little better that having the altis in a 4x4 avtar. It will be the closest your family will get to in terms of comfort but farthest you will get in terms of offroading capability. The reason there is a 'SUV trail blazing' happening in NCR is because GVs, Pajeros, Endevour, etc.. can't do the NIOC trails.

End of the day it is your call. you may want to move away from hardcore offroading to softroading but then like Vinod said - you will come to Gurgaon, park the GV and ride in someone's jeep/ gypsy?

Think it through buddy!
