Mahindra Classic (To Buy or Not to Buy)

Guys i found this vehicle on one of my recent business trip in the interiors of A.P.

Info from owner:
1. The front diff is removed making it a dead axle and a 4x2.
2. Engine is some nissan which i am not able to identify. (see the pics). Help need guys.
3. 1995 model
4.Steering is very hard, needs ps.
5. tyres are brand new AT borrowed from Ford Endy.
6. Paint is in good shape. Just some rust here and there.

What do you say guys ??? The owner is asking 2.4 for this. I believe this is way too much. Also, its gonna cost me to make it into a 4x4. So how much shall i offer him?

I would suggest staying away from this deal. you are paying more for the bling than anything else.

The below is a good example of a fine Classic, which would be worth 2.4L or more.

I Feel the asking price is too high.. But is this actually a classic? I had a different dashboard. This looks like a normal modded cj.

It is not a Classic, it has the CL340 dashboard and drum brakes in the front.

First Mahindra Classic came out 3rd quarter of 1996.

Wrong engine, no 4WD. Not worth more than 1.5L in my opinion.

Please stay away from this. Not worth it. Look at Beejay Jeep and Teajs's , it was worth because the Vehicles were the Most original with any makeshift arrangement.

PS: Don't even buy it even if you get a very low quote (After all how much he can reduce from 2.4L?)

Thanks

I dont think this classic is worth that price.I guess you may need to change the gear box for the 4x4 ( going by your pic). The gear box seems to be of the nissan itself

AS all above me have said and confirmed, not a classic. It is a 340 CL or CJ I am not sure.
If you want a jeep just for the city and not for doing stuff that we guys do in our jeeps then go in for it. Still the price for a bling jeep is high. By bling here I dont mean showey but a non 4x4. Whats the use of a jeep without 4x4.

Alternatively if your purpose is off-roading then you might have 2 options. one to source the 4x4 transfer case for this engine, if available and this will be difficult.
Second is to discard this engine and buy a XD3P engine, gearbox and transfer case. This is easily available but you will have to go in for a very detailed, time consuming and money pouring overhauling procedure. if you manage to do this you will have a very refined and capable engine in your hands.

Choose your path!!!

Its no more a classic as the engine is already changed, the 4wd system is removed and its not factory color. its not worth the asking price. Just walk away.
