4X4 Mahindra Xylo! EDIT : PICS on page 4

Hi folks

There is news in BSM that Xylo 4X4 is nearly ready, implying good news for families seeking adventure with more comfort than existing offerings in the market.

Following is the link to the same:

SCOOP: Mahindra Xylo 4x4 nearly ready

Hope this one is 2.2l as it is more refined, though I understand that it will be existing 2.5l.

enjoy...

Way to go , MM

The UV/MUV/SUV market in India is hotting up indeed.

EDIT : maybe this thread should be in the "4X4 vehicles" section, instead of the "Indian car scene" section ?

Awesome. Really provides a go anywhere vehicle for indian families.

But I would be really interested if they bring in the sub-4m, sub1400cc offroader :-)

MSIL - please plonk the MJD into the gypsy and shave that bumper!!

An good move by MM to make it more competitive in the MUV segment and throw more goodies(all wheel disk brakes etc) with this change and improve the build quality similar to innova level.

Bolero Storm deserves a 4wd rather than Xylo in terms of laying priorities. May be since Xylo is also exported they are bringing in this first.

Good news for people up north who would want Innova's comfort with 4wd for snowy roads.

There might be a market for Xylo 4x4.but i really doubt the numbers its gonna sell.

I feel bolero will have a bigger market. As vinod said ,it might be a product for international market

should Xylo 4x4 really be marketed in India? Who would be the target customers?

I think it should be marketed in india. The only reason i did not buy a safari 4x4 is because of the reliability and service issues with TATA motors and scorpio 4x4 because it was uncomfortable in the middle and last row seats and Xylo did not have a 4x4 yet, so bought the 4x2.

IMHO the target consumers would be people looking for a softroader with TATA safari like space and comfort and mahindra like toughness in a 4x4.

So the Xylo 4x4 fulfills all the above criteria.

Definitely Yes, it must be marketed. It sure will tap a segment in the market of people wanting a family vehicle that they can use for tours in the hills and at times on muddy/snow filled terrains with family/friends

I too feel if the xylo was offered with 4x4 option, I may have picked it over the Scorpio since the 4x4 in my Scorpio is not for jeepthrills kind of off-roading but use in slippery conditions in the estates and to go off the beaten path on a holiday. I feel the Xylo in 4x4 form will pull some prospective safari 4x4 owners as well.

Either way 4x4 vehicles are only made after booking so what is the hoopla about should we offer,, etc..

If you build it, they will come..

If it is marketed, i feel it should be the AWD version and not the selectable (part-time) 4X4. The ability to drive in 4WD in tarmac will make the Xylo much more safer to drive, I think.

I agree with Vinod that Storm 4WD should have been higher up the priority list of M&M compared to Xylo. I'm not sure who the Target Consumer group is for this vehicle either in India or in Europe/SA
