Jai/Arul,

Get rid of the crash bar AKA the vote-asking bar ASAP. Else you will have guys shouting either in praise/un'praise of the red-black combo soon!!

Guys i have a question here, do not know if its an appropriate thread but anyways. I have seen the old jeeps bonnet sagging a little bit at the hinges, you you notice clearly its there here as well. It that a problem with the tub alignment or something else?

+1 to svsantosh, please get rid of those rollbars, W/S frame and alos those funny looking fendors.

Congratulations on the purchase. BTW: where are the number plates?

Before attempting an 4x4ing, please change all oils, hoses and belts. Get the water pump and pulley checked.

I was about to mention that. Also remove the extension on the windshield.

I do want to know who would sing praises of the "vote" bar?

What kind of a soft tops does she have? Does it fit the existing mods? In that case you will need to get a new top if you remove the extensions.

You get CJ3B size ready softtop, doors and frames available in bombay. Let me know if you need them.

Thats another funny part. the rear number pate was just stickers which was put on the highest bar in rear at that high. We could not figure it out either when we saw the CJ first.

All,
The jeep was just picked up on weekend and did not have time to work on it. Hope that will be done this weekend.

My cousin has taken it to the workshop to check greasing, Oil and hoses.
The only think we need to chage is the radiator hose.

Still need to cut the bars.

@Santhosh

We were just thinking to cut the bar in the same shape which you have mentioned. Lets see......

@perioimpl

This did not have a softtop on it. Yet to make it ready.

Can someone tell me can i get a new windshield for this ? Is it available in bangalore ? if yes any idea on the price and location were u get.

Congrats to you and your cousin on the purchase. So are you guys planning to retain the diesel or convert it back to its original avtar?
Also please share the price how much did you pay for it, city of registration, etc

Jai/Arul - You have picked up a great jeep for a greater price. Just attend to the important things ASAP (Read- mechanicals) and then get into the cosmetic part of it.

Hope you had a whale of a time today with me at the wheel at the 'mini-OTR'.

We are planning to have the diesel engine on it, because the RC has the engine endorsed. Its a tamil nadu registered vehicle.

Great. A SWB diesel will be quite good for off-roading too. BTW which diesel have you finalised!!
The XD3P which comes in a MM550 is quite a good option or alternatively I am not sure whether someone has done this and the gurus can comment, has anyone installed the MDI-TC engine in a SWB??

^^ Harjeev - He meant he will retain the existing Peu' 2.1L engine that came with it. It has been mated to the 3Spd T-90 gearbox. I am quite surprised how smooth this motor is tuned in this Jeep.

Congrats Ganesh and your cousin for the latest SWB Jeep here in this forum.

Where did you guys took it for offroading? Looks like near Hosur ASTC Hudco housing colony for me?

The pics or the landscape took me back 17 years to my college days.
Fyi - I lived/studied in Hosur for 4 years

Just scanned thru my pc and found this very old pic taken in 1995 near the Hosur Temple where I did some offroading.
