How much to offer for this 1994 Mitsubishi Pajero

How much to offer for this 1994 Mitsubishi Pajero-dsc01303.jpg

1994 Mitsubishi pajero , run 1.10 lakh Kms . Quoting 7lakhs ( KA 01 registered ) enginne is in good condition , bodyline is good , interiors is good except for very minor repairs . its got 255/70 size goodyear wrangler ATR tyres which have good amount of thread left. Sorry i could manage to get only one pic.

It was inspected by my mechanic and these the major repairs to be done according to him .

1. A/C not working ( Blower is working )
2. Suspension overhaul has to be done
3. Clutch is very hard so it has to be overhauled
4. Front power windows go up very slowly

He told me that if i spend around 50k then the car will be in good condition

IS IT WORTH BUYING , IF YES WHAT WOULD BE THE PRICE I CAN PICK IT FOR . BHPians need your valuable help.

For this kind of money it makes a lot of sense to pick up a NEW Indian 4x4. Sorry karizma, used Pajero's for this kind of price just does not make financial or common sense. You could instead look for a used LR Defender or Discovery if you search hard.

FYI - even New Pajero's are grossly over-priced by the manufacturer.

Are you sure ?? The flared arch (so called new design) for 10L. Here they sell for around 15L, as for a 1994 @ 3.5L , even if I redid the suspension, power windows, clutch, aircon -I'd still be home in around 1.5L on the very much higher side.

I may be wrong, but I do not think I am too much off the mark.

Cheers

The fact is that used cars are horribly overpriced here in Bangalore.
Chances are that you will find way better deals if you move out of bangalore.

Hi
Scenario of used cars in chennai is similar to Bangalore. But the price quoted is way to expensive for the model. One of my friend had purchased a 2002 pajero a year back for 9 lakhs. Still grumbles about the cost of ownership that comes along with it. Hope you have better luck.

You should probably remind the guy that we are in the year 2010 and the car is over 15 years old.

That may give him a reality check. For 7 Lakhs you can probably get a 2001 / 2002 Pajero as well with not too much work to be done (this is provided that you are dead on getting a pajero.)

A money pit, as someone mentioned above, means this could turn out to be an expensive ownership affair, with problems cropping up at regular intervals

Instead, if you want 7, you can get a couple of Merc, BMWs as well, all post 2000 series.

Alternatively, you can also look at a Xylo or Safari / Scorp

But, forget you saw that car, and even if he were to give it to you for 5, forget it, it will be troublesome

Good decision. I'm willing to bet that this Pajero odo is clocked back, and its covered a lot more than just 1.1 lakh kms.
