Simply because these countries don't have much of a local automotive industry. Translated, they have to depend on imports to fulfill their needs.

The Indian market is a realistic 2.0 million cars a year (not even counting 2 wheelers). We have over 20 automotive brands manufacturing cars locally. And don't forget, India is now emerging as an extremely viable export hub.

Wow that's a good to know information GTO thanks, sorry chargeman may be i am bumping in your thread but out of frustration and curiosity I've posted these. GTO even if we have 20 and odd manufacturers and though we are emerging as exporters but the fact remains the same the quality, performance and the need for the imported cars cannot be sufficed by the Indian brands I guess, apart from that the so called Indian exporters who export their vehicles abroad meet their standard requirements which are way far than ours but why not give the same to Indian consumers why the cheap plastic in the cars, pay more and more for the extra options which are becoming basic abroad i.e, powersteering, abs, air bags (considering safety as a prime feature).

Agree to GTOs post. Be proud and happy for what you have! Leave my old landcruiser alone!!! Btw driving this 3.4 diesel is a completely different experience! As soon as I tuned it, changed all fluids and drove it I knew it's the making of a legendary classic 4x4 thoroughbreed!!

That's a very neatly maintained SWB LC. As you've written that its a 6 cylinder 4200cc DIESEL engine I was wondering if its the same 1HD Diesel engine that comes in the FJ80 too??
Also can you please share some interior pics and pics of the engine bay too. I just want to compare the differences and similarities between your BJ70 and my FJ80.
Cheers
