Hi Fazal,

Thanks for your comments.... All I can say is: the jeep gods have been kind

I have been hunting for parts from all over. While I find it easier to get them from ebay (from genuine sellers), Hyderabad, Bhopal, Bombay & Delhi have been good sources too. Most of the Hyd parts sources are known but I find them very expensive, unreasonable, arrogant and ignorant. The only person I would put my money on is Khamar.

It would be great if you could PM me in case you come across anything to do with jeeps in future.. Have a couple more restorations in the pipeline..

Incidentally i am from Hyderabad and thats where my jeeps are parked. You are most welcome to come and see if you like.

Wasif bhai, Sadly I live and work in Bombay and thus missed the rally. Did have a look at the thread though and found quite a few Hyd Jeeps there... some original and some just a piety :(

I try and go home once a month and thats when i get a chance to spend time on the jeeps.. Will post more pictures soon.

The next on the agenda is a 1958 CJ3b (nearing completion) followed by my favorite and the reason behind this madness, a 1953 CJ3a that I managed to bag 3 weeks ago. (this one nearly proved to be the holy grail of jeeps in my life)

Saif,

You are going great and the recent additions have made your Jeep a lot more dearer. One day I would like to own a Jeep, hope I am lucky.

Also eager to see the holy grail of Jeeps .

I actually need the radiator and the shroud. The one i am currently using is a replacement radiator..

The jeep is still a work in progress with quite a few parts already acquired and waiting to be fixed and some that are yet to be sourced.

Parts waiting to be installed:

1. Autolite voltage regulator
2. Autolite distributor
3. Tobe Radio filterette
4. CB marked reflectors
5. CB marked front marker lights

A couple of parts that i need, and would be much obliged if someone could help are:

1. A MB radiator (5 slots on the tank) with shroud
2. A ROSS steering box with the steering rod
3. MB Transmission shield/skid plate
4. The complete hand break assembly (got the lever and cable)

Re: 1943 Willys MB 204251

After personally knowing Saif and his level of restoration, I am 100% this will become the best MB in India very soon.

Your are one of the few people I know who are taking this hobby to the next level in India.

Excellent work !

Re: 1943 Willys MB 204251

Hello everyone,

managed to find some time to fix a couple of more things on the MB.

1. Axe and Spade
2. Octane tag on the jerry can
3. NOS Tobe radio filterette under the dash. Incidentally similar ones were fitted on the passenger side from the inside of the body. The 4 nuts holding the filterette would be visible from outside. This change was effective March 1943. For the fords this change came into effect a couple of months later.
4. Crank handle

Here are the pictures

Great to see you source all the little bits to make your Jeep a fine example of what they once were. One other enthusiast Vamshi has taken a lot of pains to do up his 3a, you should meet him someday

Hi Deepak, Vamshi has a Cj2a (the blue one right?). His is a lovely restoration and while I have not yet seen the jeep in person, have quite a few photographs of the jeep.

Yes. I forgot its a 2a. There is a 3a too, I think with Madhu, not sure though.

Vamshi like you has gone to great lengths to get things right on the Jeep and once when he was explaining things I was quite overwhelmed by the level of detail he went into to ensure authenticity.

I have zero knowledge on Jeeps but I deeply appreciate guys like you and Vamshi who painstakingly ensure a car goes back to how it left the factory. That to me is what great restorations are all about.

BTW nice to know you are back in Hyd. Lets get some Jeep drives going this monsoon !!
