Dear Gogi bhai,
I got the tow strap from the ray road (Darukhana). I was in a hurry and forgot to take his business card.
Tow strap which I got for myself, I gave it to Nikhil (Jeepster), So again I have to buy it for me. Today or tomorrow I am planning to go there.
On the way to dadar TT, I will give you a call, so you can join me OR you can go directly there. There are 5-6 suppliers, the one who will offer you minimum price, pick it.
Attached pic is of shakel, whose capacity is 6-7 tone. @ Rs. 200 per shakel.
Sanjay

Ya i also went to Saif tackles who had quoted me the same. A lot of us used to buy from him. His shackes are SS though and his 5 tonne, 5meter tow strap was for around 1600/- after discount.
Hi Guys,
Update on 4th July, 2011.
After long search for Tyres and rims, I end up with this brand new Army Sand/Highway tyres. :Cheering:
(In future I will upgrade to 8.5J rims and 32" MT tyres)
This time I don't want to miss Akc/Examm and of-course to meet all of you at the event, so I decided to go for only army tyres for time being.
Process Done: Rim Alignment, Shot Blasting on Rims, Painting Rims, Installing New Tyres with Nitrogen Air
-
Rim Alignment: in the process of rim alignment, I found that all rims were in good condition.
-
Shot Blasting on Rims (to remove 3-4 layers of old paint)
WIP pics of Sand blasting
-
Before:
-
After:
-
Paint process: applied 2-3 coat of white primer.
-
Final Product: applied 2 coat of final paint.
Installing Tyres on RIm and filled Nitrogen Air:
Below pics I have taken from my cell. This was my first experience with 4x4 after I installed new tyres, I have tasted them for 10 min in mud.
Enjoy Pics!

Cheers!!
Sanjay
Wow... Finally you got hold of the tyres. The jeep is looking nice. I am sure you will enjoy the examm and akc . All the best.
Gr8!
Sanjay,
Jeep is looking macho now, so when are you planning Pune trip?
btw you promised me that I will inaugurate new tires and what is this, you already had 15 mins test drive. :p
Thanks,
Vishal
How are these tyres in mud? My understanding was they are better off for sand and road? What tyre pressure are you planning to use for slush?
But the work on the rims are very thorough! I definitely like it!

Dear Jaggu,
I have no idea how these tyres will perform in mud. I bought it for the time being.
I will try between 28-30 tyre pressure for slush. If you have any experience about these tyres, pls share with me.
Thanks!
Sanjay
Go lower pressure, around 15 is what saved us in munnar IIRC :)

This is purely in my experience - before I replaced them
I've run the Sand/Highway tires - Apollo Bullets -on road and wet mud
On road
- They're noisy ,and sound just like truck tires
- They're bumpy and tend to sway above 75kmph speeds
On wet mud
- They tend to 'chew' in and lose traction
To add to the ^^ With full air pressure, they kinda get backed with mud which will not dislodge and becomes as good as bald tyres. Lowering pressure but showed really good difference.
@4x4army - Great Ride :thumbs up. The before/after pics of the rims show a big difference and they look good!
I guess you are filling the tires with nitrogen for highway drives and will be re-filling them with normal air while off-roading with reduced pressure? How do you re-inflate the tires filled with nitrogen after off-roading?
I think if you reduce the pressure of tires filled with nitrogen, you would need to use nitrogen only and not the usual air to re-inflate them - please correct me if i'm wrong. Thanks!
