International Car Galleries/ Museums /factories

BHPians – Here’s where you can post pictures of any International car galleries/ museums / factories you have visited or test drives there.

Let me take the start – The Ferrari galleria and factory, Marenello (Italy) and the Ferrari

Cars, pictures and trophies. Over 200,000 people from around the world annually visit this place from the day it was inaugurated, Feb 1990 and I was lucky to be one of them. The Galleria Ferrari, It’s not only a museum but a vibrant flaunt that is recurrently improved in time. I was zapped to enter this place. Apart from exhibiting the most significant historical pieces, including the first Ferrari, the 125 S, 1947, and the office of Enzo Ferrari in Modena with original furnishings and objects, the Gallery offers the latest model cars and road.

The gallery is open daily, including holidays (except 25th Dec and 1st Jan) from 9:30 to 18:00 without even a lunch break. The entrance fees for Adults Euros 13, Euros 9 for children between 6-10 years. Free admission for children under 5 years and disabled. You can also hire a ( Italian, English, French, German, Spanish and Chinese) guide by paying Euros 5 .

Ok now the Ferrari factory, situated in the northern Italy, 18 km from Modena. Modena - "the capital of engines", the home of the famous Italian sports car makers Ferrari, De Tomaso, Lamborghini, Pagani and Maserati. Lamborghini is headquartered not far away in Sant'Agata Bolognese. One of Ferrari's cars, the 360 Modena, was named after the town itself. Also, one of the colors for Ferraris is Modena yellow. I so wanted to visit this place but dropped out because of the lack of time.

Back to Marenello where the Ferrari factory is located, best known as the home of Ferrari S.p.A. and the Scuderia Ferrari Formula One racing team. Maranello was also home to coach-building firm Carrozzeria Scaglietti, now owned by Ferrari. Maranello has been the location for the Ferrari factory since the early 1940s, when Enzo Ferrari transferred operations from the Scuderia Ferrari Garage and Factory in Modena, which had been his base of operations dating back to Scuderia Ferrari's days as an arm of Alfa Romeo, due to bombing during World War II. Initially the factory in Maranello was a base not only for Scuderia Ferrari but also for Auto Avio Costruzioni, the machine tool manufacturing business started by Enzo to tide the company over whilst Alfa Romeo's ban on Enzo Ferrari's making cars bearing the Ferrari name was in force. Ohh yea forgot to mention, the Ferrari 550 Maranello and Ferrari 575 Maranello are named after the town. Maranello Kart, an Italian kart chassis, is also named after the town. Near Maranello is the town of Fiorano Modenese where the Fiorano Circuit is located, a private track owned by Ferrari for its car testing. Maranello is the starting point of the annual Carpi Marathon, which finishes in nearby Carpi.

Italy is just like a well developed India, I took a train from Zurich to Milan ( with lot of connecting trains in between) an by no reason could I miss any train because of the accuracy in the timings they follow... I enter Italy and there you go ! Train delayed and I miss the connecting train to Marenello... So spent the whole night in Milan railway station, the Indian way ;-)...

I will come back with pics, for now the Ferrari F430 test drive video

Wow !!
Must have been an awesome experience.
Please put up the pics.
Was any FXX, 599XX there on display?
By any chance did you spot the 599 GTO?

If you don't mind, how much did that ride exactly cost (100 Euros - 10 mins ??)?
Also from where did you rent F430 ?
What other rides were available for rent?
Did you get any memorabilia from Maranello?

Phew .. too many questions
Waiting for many many pics

Nethercutt Collection & Petersen Automotive Museum are paradise for classics. Also every Friday there is a car show at Bobs Big Boy, Burbank.
