Amit, Nice to view an Amby in its country of birth. In the first picture carefully observe the other car to the extreme left. Its surely a Rolls Royce Camargue, a two door Rolls of the early 1980's:

This one is on diplomatic plates. I thought it's an Indian Embassy vehicle, but 114 seems to imply that it's from the Belgium Mission. That can't be right, can it?

Re: A Hindustan in the UK

I used to see an old Amby at London Road, Croydon regularly (between 2007-2010).
It was in good shape and owned by one of the shop owner ( I think !).

Cheers

Re: A Hindustan in the UK

The Ambassador owned privately but painted as a taxi loaned out to a new couple who got wedded. The couple had indeed approached the car's owner to get driven to the church on the solemn occasion.

I wonder how do you stop it on a Motorway; Parachutes or Anchors? I have been wondering since the time I learnt that HM has decided to try and market them on the nostalgia niche.

Lovely to see that! Very retro stylish and iconic. A long way from the humble Morris Oxford eh?

Re: A Hindustan in the UK

Mike Brewer of the TV program Wheeler Dealers bought a blue coloured Ambassador (nicknamed Lucky) from Kolkata and exported it to UK. He then sold it to 2 women in relationship, one of them Indian.

I hope some BHPian spots that car and posts the photo here!

AVENGE? the British gave us roads, bridges that still have not fallen, a rail system etc etc etc. Call them back to rule and we will have stability. We need a Margaret Thatcher to put our house back on rails, not the jokers we have ruling us at present. .

But I could not resist
