And now the Cannondale Q5 at 21.5k joins the list.
Damn this bike is smooth. Lovely seat and riding posture.

At bikeaffairs I rode a RR5.0, Schwinn with suspension, Trek 7.1 and the Q5.
While the 7.1 was very nice, the Q5 is so buttery smooth.

Tomorrow will ride them again and decide, which one to buy.

Does anyone know if they accept credit cards? :)

They don't accept Credit Cards.
However, they do accept electronic funds transfer.

I would say Quick5, if budget ain't an issue. You won't regret later.

Oh yeah i almost forgot, do look at the KHS model series too. Disc brakes will woo you.

If you are eye'ing the 'above 20k' range already, did you have a look at the Bianchi C1 or SC ?

Not many bikes at that range look SOOOO DAMN GOOD ! (and ofcourse ride equally well...)

I started with a budget of about 10k. Pushed it to 21.5k.

I don't want to open those links. But there are unseen forces at work.
I cannot resist.
Help me god. What have I started. :)

I am using a Cannondale F9. Its a very good bike, does not have a disk brake (u can get it in F7). I got it in 2010 December for 21.5K.

21.5 K for the Q5.

These things were sold at 10% less. I am putting the mrp, paid 10% less.
1.5 for the Carrier.
2.5 for the helmet.
400 for lock.

Will update ride report tomorrow as I am gonna take her to office.

Woke up early around 6:30. No need of any alarm clocks when I am excited.

Breakfast of museli with some yoghurt.
At 7:25 woke up my wife with some tea.

7:34, I leave my house.
7:40: first encounter with pain. My left leg hurts.
But I push on. At some steep climbs I walk the bike. The pain has disappeared.

I realize I am putting weight on my wrists. When I take one hand off the handlebar the bike is not steady. There is no pain or discomfort, but I will need to work on this.

Find myself using 2-5 and 3-7 as the most preferred gear combination.

I walk the last part of the Deloitte Drive climb. This is the only longest walking stretch.
Enter my office campus at 8:14.

Distance is roughly 11 kms

Quick shower and work starts.

Am LOVING it.

Great stuff there bblost. And CONGRATS on your new posession. I can imagine the excitement and the fun loving element involved here. It was great that you went with a far better bike than with your initial budget - it will sure give you back the returns.

Regarding pain (if it was knee pain) - PL TAKE CARE. Most probable causes are:
- Fit - BIKE and SELF
- improper saddle height
- lack of warm up / stretching
- improper gearing used (mostly riding with higher gears)

It can also be because you are riding after long time etc, but the above can also be reasons.

Also pl ensure to HYDRATE yourself properly - before you feel thirsty.

These small things will help you to avoid a possible injury and continue longer with your passion.

PS: On a note I wanted to share my latest achievement. I managed to complete my first century Ride on Saturday June 11th 2011. I cycled 120 KM to Manchanabele Reservoir in Bangalore and back home. We did some Mountain - trail riding as well on that day and I was completely amazed with the ride of my BTwin Rockrider 5.1. I am still happy with my decision of purchase - for the time being. :-)

So far I am at 705 KM of Cycling from April 11th 2011 till last week end, my ride reports shows. And I also reduced 5 KG of my (over) weight in the last 2 months. Now 1 KG remaining.

Some pics of the ride and the places from my Picasa Album: https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/sred...5wE&feat=email

All the best

Cheers

That is so awesome man!! Nice pictures too.

Gets me inspired.

How to increase one's stamina? As I believe such long rides would need a lot of endurance. Presently I am 30 and overweight too and and hoping to pedal off some kilos in the months to come. Presently cycling about 20 kms/day. Office and back + some distance around the house.

I can share how I was doing it, may be it works for others as well.

Simply put, keeping doing it and stretch out consistently, increase week by week and month by month 10-15% is always achievable and good.

I started off with 4 KM on my first day of cycling, and I was really tired and grasping then. Slowly I increased - stretched - to 7 KM, 10, 15, 20, 25, 35, 50, 66 KM. Then it was a jump for me from 66 to 120, I just attempted it to see if I can do it or not. I think my constant riding for the last 2 months and taking care of the few points I have mentioned in my previous post should have helped.

How I have done these rides, week days I have a constant target of 10-15 KM. Week ends I stretch the previous week end's personal best. Some of these long distances are once in a month long ries with a group of bikers enthusiasts staying some 8 KM close to where I live, I join them for these rides.

Regarding diet - I am on my regular food, breakfast and dinner at home, lunch at office cafeteria. Same old regular good - rice etc.

At least this what I have been doing.

Regards,
narayanang76

The pain is in my left Hamstring. More like soreness. Should be gone in a day or two, I guess.

No pain in the joints. Thankfully.

Its almost 1 year after I owned this beauty and I am so shameless to post here that I haven't even completed 50 kms on this ! For some unknown reason I had stitched a rain-proof cover in the same week and it has protected the freshness till date. I am lacking motivation to ride it everyday, probably lacking company :) Its high time to restart the routine !

Friends can u please suggest me a bicycle for me and my nephew

- The bike will mostly be used by my nephew who is 11 yr old
- I would ride the bike for an hour or so for weight loss and fitness purpose
- Budget is around 6-8k
- Might sound childish but i am a gadget freak , so do we get a digital speedo on bicycle these days :p

kindly suggest me which one to buy thanks
