Re: I broke the Guinness record for fastest cycling (solo) from Leh to Manali

Congratulations sir.
I had been following Lt. Col. Bharat Pannu's earlier record of 37 hours last year around this time, and am very happy to see that the record stays with the Indian army.
Please do document and share the journey and your training routine.

Congratulations Colonel. A big Salute for the achievement. Your average seem to cover 13.5 Kms in an hour. Very eager to know the trip and the planning behind.

You are AWESOME sir!

Congratulations sir on the wonderful achievement. I suspect the experience is what you'll enjoy more than the entry in the book of records. What a wonderful feat, another feather in the cap (beret!) perhaps.

What a short time indeed for the record. We armchair experts can only watch in aw. Looking forward to the detailed thread eagerly. Cheers to you & best wishes for the next challenge you take up! Congratulations once again.

Congratulations for your attempt! Wondering whats stopping any tour de france or Randonneurs making such attempts which looks easy for them or have they done such records already? Do update us after Guinness world record honours your attempt.

Does it not sound similar to the Indianized record attempt by this novice?

I have read and re read your account of how you took to cycling and became a Super radonneur in the very first year trying to find inspiration in that. I have fwded it to several of my friends too.
But this, is another league altogether. Take a bow! Will be glued to this thread.

Apologies for not understanding your post. Could you please elaborate on what you meant?
I attempted to break the existing Guinness record for fastest cycling Solo from Leh to Manali. The earlier record was by Lt Col Bharat Pannu (35:32:22) and it was him who pushed me to attempt and break the record. I started out with an aim of breaking it and mid way through the effort, I felt I would fall short. But my crew kept up the momentum and we could achieve it with 38 minutes to spare.
Do let me know what is it exactly that you want me to answer.
Regards

What I meant is, there can be numerous record for lowest timing between any 2 cities giving it infinite combinaton of record when its between 2 citites.

But there can be only 1 record when there is a timing involved with maximum distance covered, or shortest time achieved which is always permanent.

Not so simple. One cannot embark on establishing a record between any two places just like that. With Guinness, one has to apply to set a record. There are already established records which can only be attempted. If one desires to propose a new record, there is a substantial fees that needs to be paid and then the proposal is examined by Guinness. May or may not be approved too.
It is not even guaranteed that every attempt gets Guinness approval. AFAIK, there are only 5-6 cycling records from place A to B in India that have Guinness recognition.

Nice! Congratulations Sir! But I am unable to make sense of the accomplishment in practical terms without an elevation diagram from start to finish with distance of each slope. Any chance you have that already and could you post here?

Congratulations sir on the record.

To do these distances on plains is a feat by itself. I just had a glance at Google maps to get an idea of the terrain and it's mind boggling.

Kudos to and a huge salute to you

Dear Lt Col. Sriram,

Warmest and most respectful congratulations on this sterling achievement of setting a Guinness world record. What a stellar and singular accomplishment. You have done all Indians, the Indian Army and all Team BHPians proud. My salute to you. Do let us know if you ever attempt one of the other city pairs recognized in India by Guinness.

Jai Hind.

With kind regards,

V.Narayan

Sir, I don't know if you are speaking out of rank ignorance or trying to sound utterly ungracious. I cannot believe you do not know the difference between a fake & almost illegal outfit like the India book of records versus the Guinness Book of Records. Being the officer & gentleman he is, Lt. Col. Sriram has responded to you rather professionally which is quite in contrast to the style of this post of yours.

Congratulations. This is some achievement. You have made India proud.

I have driven on this sector and driving a car gets so tiring, which is several times more easy than a bicycle, so I can imagine the feat achieved. Kudos !
Would love to read the detailed journey and the preparations. I can only imagine the stamina required for such a feet and that too at such high altitude.

Re: I broke the Guinness record for fastest cycling (solo) from Leh to Manali

It took my more than 30 hours from Manali to Leh (including a night stay) by car. That just shows how mean this achievement is.

Salute to you Sir, you are an inspiration.
