ICE Upgrade for my Jet, Tata Safari GX

Hi Guys

I just bought myself my own jet aka TATA SAFARI GX. BUt I didn't like the stock ice. Its an alpine system with only one pre out.

Here I need help from gurus and fellow BHP-ians. I need to upgrade the ICE of my beast. After going through the T-Bhp forums, I have zeroed on Pioneer HU 9350, Infinity 6530/Morel Maximo components, JBL 1004 amp and Infinity 1260/ground zero sub.I am planning to get this installation done in Delhi as there are no good installer in my place 9gwalior)

My plan id to drive the components through two channels of the amps, retin the rear co-ax-driven directly by HU and drive the sub through the remaining two channels of amp in bridged mode.

Please advise me if its ok set up, I mean ant issues with resistance , impedance matching etc. I am new to this ICE field. People can also suggest other brands also if they are better. I am looking at a decent SQL+SPL. Budget is restricted to 35K.

I also need to know any good installer in Delhi for ICE installation who can do a clean install in Safari without any metal cutting. Do I need damping??

Looking forward to your replies...
Thanks

Re: ICE Upgrade for my Jet, Tata Safari GX

Sheelz, there seems to be no real issue with your choice of components.

Damping helps most if not all cars reduce road noise in the cabin and reduces the resonance of doors and other metal objects in a car.

Thanks Navin for the reply..
What I am looking at is a decent SPL setup.
Will the amp be able to power up the sub with required power.
Also Delhi guys, need help....need to know a professional installer in Delhi
Thanks

I see you are looking for Morel's, i recently got my ice done and got to know morel has warranty/support issues, be sure to check this before going for them.

Re: ICE Upgrade for my Jet, Tata Safari GX

Why the Pio? I would suggest an Alpine upgrade or something from Kenwood/JVC.

Would also suggest a four channel amp for the speakers at front and rear from my experience.

And for 35k budget, I also would also suggest Auditor speakers and amp.

If you bridge 2 channels of the 1004 it should drive your subwoofer.

Re: ICE Upgrade for my Jet, Tata Safari GX

The pio 9350 is a good choice, it would blend with the interiors very subtly with the white display.

The rear coaxials are going in a box or the doors? Since you'll have the sub in the boot, the boxes may take up more space and using the doors will be a better idea. Why dont you look at reference components for all four doors along with a sub, the SQ will be better IMHO. There may be others too in that price range but I'm a JBL fanboy so havent really checked out the competition.

Also, powering the rear coax or compos directly will cause sound level differences between front and rear. You will have better sound in the front vs back, but not something to bother if you drive with just front occupants. I have a similar setup in the i10 where the front infinity ref compos overpower the rear jbl compos since they are directly powered from HU. But its a good filler sound anyways and since I'm always in the front, it isnt an issue for me at least!

If you want to keep options open, go for the setup as you have chalked out for now and later you can add a mono for the sub and power the rears through the current amp.

Re: ICE Upgrade for my Jet, Tata Safari GX

Perhaps a 6 channel amp is a good option for SQL, as it will drive your front and rear components and also the sub. If you are looking for SPL, then a 4 channel amp plus a monoblock for the sub should do you good service..

Re: ICE Upgrade for my Jet, Tata Safari GX

Thanks guys for the suggestion.
Two weeks to install and I am still confused.
To add to my dilemma further.....
How good are the Rainbow SLG Titans, Illusion 6.1 ? Are they better than the the options that I have thought off???
What about Ground Zero 30T and iD CTX 124??? Which is better in terms of SPL when driven in bridged mode from JBL 1004??

I am really confused Guys....Please help

Thanks

Can really comment on the speaker front, I would suggest you audition them before buying. Havent heard the Illusion 6.1, but the titans are good speakers with good amount of midbass. iD CTX is my favourite sub in the budget serious. A sealed iD CTX off a JBL 1004 should be good enough.
