Full Ipod compatibility is the issue with many HUs.

The problem is that somewhere in 2009-10 Apple decided to change the power charging systems of their low end ipods (shuffles, nanos etc..) and even the new 160GB Classic. Take the Alpine 9835 that I use. It will charge the older 120GB ipod but not the 160GB.

Some months ago I decided to build me my own Ipod speaker dock. Sam will tell you a more humourous version of this experiment. To do this I had to learn a lot about ipod charging systems and it is really mad.

Point is that many HUs do not offer full compatibility with all Apple iPods. However yes, one would expect the more modern HUs to have found a work around (like I did) to this.

As far as I know, the 249 has 2 pre-outs and is a basic HU - will do its job in a amp+sub set up

the 149 has only one pre-out

Are you looking for a HU+speaker set up or a HU+amp+speakers+sub set up?

For my Hyundai EON Dlite+: (My dad actually just booked for one so it's not actually mine!)
My BUDGET: 10 K (HU+Front components+(if possible rear co-axials)

Head Unit NEED : USB + iPOD + enough in it to drive 2 component speakers in front and 2 rear co-axial speakers (without the need for an amp)

With buget constraint, I am thinking I will go with a good front component speaker for now and get the rear co axials later (leaving options open for future upgrade).

So as per your suggestion I guess Pio deh 249 UB is a good fit since even if i want to get subs, I can use it with amp.

Since Pio deh 249 UB is estimated at ~5500/- I REQUIRE SUGGESTIONS based on my budget for a good/reliable brand-model-pricing info for :
1) Front Component Speakers =?
2) Rear Co-axials=?

BTW I am asked Hyundai dealer to get me National Insurance for car insurance and surprisingly he said that they don't cover music system in the insurance! ANY thoughts?

For my 5 month old VW POLO trendline:

My BUDGET: I am okay between 10 - 13 K (excluding rear speakers adn including HU+front Component Speakers)

Similar requirements for Head Unit and Speaker configurations.

Any suggestions for POLO?

Re: Pioneer 149 (???)

^^ the HU price looks high to me.

Speakers :VFM components that I installed were boston sxi606.They are doing their job very well - please check with EVO(Satyajit). They may have them.

Coaxes +Polo set up - you could check the car audio ask the gurus thread.

Old thread still looks like wrong info and hence

http://www.pioneer-india.in/shop/deh-2590ui/

You guys were talking about 2590 right?

And for 2013, 149 gets replaced by 159UI

http://www.pioneer-india.in/shop/mvh-159ui/ with MRP 3790INR.
