This looks like a great HU and seems like a strong competitor for Pioneer & JBL.
With option to add bluetooth later and App Mode for iPhone it becomes the first HU to offer these features at this price point.

KS-BTA100 is available for around 2.5k in markets.
Little OT, but where is the KS BTA100 available for 2.5k? I was looking to buy the KS BTA100 for my JVC head unit (KD R425) but the least price I could find was on Ebay at Rs.3500. I only checked online and did not check in the stores.

Would greatly appreciate if you could point me to the right direction.

It has been a long time. One of my friends bought it from a local shop without bill. But as of now i am not sure if it was 2500 or 3500. Looks like a typo though.

Nice!

but i see only 1 USB slot provided. JVC BTA-100 kit uses a USB slot, so if you install BT then you lose the USB slot.

There are some JVC models with 2 USB's: both rear or 1 rear and 1 in the front.

Nope, JVC KS-BTA100 does not require a USB port but works off the rear aux-in, in compatible models. Also has 3 leads for power supply.

ok then these are diff models.

I saw the following model: http://www.jvc.co.in/car/cd_receiver...0bt/index.html which comes with BT adapter. Others like the 900BT also come with the same adapter and use a USB based adapter that is included in the kit.

THis will use one of the 2 USB ports.

Yes they are different.JVC HU's that come with bluetooth from factory generally work with the supplied usb bluetooth adapter. They have phone controls in the HU itself.
KS BTA100 is an addon for selected non bluetooth models and does not allow control through the HU.

Re: JVC Launches KD-X40 USB only HU @ 4,990 INR

the R80 and the R90 seem to be new, higher end models. They look interesting. The R90 has TA and costs just 13k! Wonder if its the new bang for buck HU!

Naughty question, @greenie!

It has to dip below 11-12K to be a BBFB HU.

Re: JVC Launches KD-X40 USB only HU @ 4,990 INR

Oh man, a lot seems to have changed since i was hunting for an HU with TA a few years back, and then you couldnt get anything south of 15K (at least on with B&W in india). Can't wait for TA HU's to hit the sub 10K price point!

Re: JVC Launches KD-X40 USB only HU @ 4,990 INR

That was because of illogical pricing. With more HU manufacturers officially selling in India through their own organizations, the prices are more realistic (middleman missing!). However, stuff like TA being software functionality, they will still command a premium. I don't see prices breaching 10K, but - unlike Pio which doesn't have TA in this price category - the others will respond to market pressure.

Re: JVC Launches KD-X40 USB only HU @ 4,990 INR

The USB read rate is too slow for a good capacity drive. Also, if you switch your engine off and on at signals, it causes grief.
