I have some basic Blaupunkt speakers in the front. Please suggest me a HU+rear speakers+front speakers(only if really needed) which falls under the low budget of 10k. I am looking for a USB+Aux+FM HU, but I dont mind paying 500-1000 bucks extra if the HU can come with a drive and better features. Please suggest me the possible options. The rear speakers tray was also stolen and I plan to get speakers put into boxes this time. Is it a good idea? Please quote the street prices if you know any. Thanks!
See if Bluetooth is priority then you can the the JVC X40(USB Only) else you can get the Pioneer 1490UB or Kenwood U449 or similar HU's with CD player under 5k.
For the Rear Speaker get the JBL GTO948 or equivalent (6X9)for around 4k.
Front Speakers JBL CS series 4" 1.2k
Total 10,200 .. bargain and bingo its in your budget perfect 10k.

I highly doubt that, the HUs that have video playback have a DVD player(CD imput). Also they can only play Divx files from the USB and no other format.

You have to search in your local market. There are a couple of Chinese ones that allow you to play video from USB to a Video Out.

Did anyone get this installed in Bangalore. I have been hunting for this head unit since last 3 weeks, but either the shop guys have not heard of it or they say that its in transit. :(

Regards,

REcently a repair guy told me that a provision of a usb and a sd card can be incorporated into a standard HU for a mere Rs 400 to 500. Any one tried it as yet?

With tablets getting real cheap, it's turning into an ICE vs tablet choice for many people. You can get a tablet for about Rs.10,000 (Kindle Fire for $200). You can get an alternate media player loaded onto a tablet to support more formats but you can do no such thing for a head unit. You can hook up a tablet to a set of speakers through an aux port and can get a tablet mount to put up a tablet on the dash. It's hard to fit a tablet with very little space on the dash, but you could have one fitted to the ceiling of the car (unless you have a convertible).

Turning into? Well, not difficult to see which sells more, isn't it? Tablets, decent ones at that, are available down to 5K (that's USD100) if one is to believe newspaper ads. However, there doesn't seem to be a commensurate increase in in-car installations of tablets. Seen any in India so far? We would love to be enlightened and inspired.

"Can install" is quite different from desirability and feasibility. Not everyone is a software developer techie or geek, right? Simple, standard solutions work nicely for the masses.

Has anyone got the JVC X50BT installed yet? Any first hand reviews and price indications? Looking forward to get this in my city.

I added an Rockford fosgate R300-10 powered sub to my X30 yesterday and it works great! Really happy with the resulting setup

Re: JVC Launches KD-X40 USB only HU @ 4,990 INR

There is a Chinese bluetooth enabled steering mounted USB/SD card compatible FM transmitter which plays via the FM frequency. It can be used for call making/receiving also. I have tried to find it in the local markets but it is not available. Any pointers?

One issue I found with this is that while in SUBWOOFER MODE the RCA output is very low that Subwoofer output is near to nothing. This is one of the important features for audiophiles, people who love low frequency bass output from subwoofers.

The Subwoofer mode automatically activates an LPF. The available frequencies are 55Hz, 85Hz and 120Hz. It's possible that the 55Hz is selected by default, which could cause the sub output to be felt as too low?
