which sub + amp combo have u got?
IMO, i think u'll be just fine with ur OE HU....but u'd be definitely needing a pair of 6 X 9 or comp else, the sub would take away ur mids and highs and leave with just low note thumps....
so, go ahead and change ur speakers as well. as for HU and amp, they should be compatible beacuse of the speaker level inputs.
u just dont need anything else, but yes a good installer (as ever)

Most probably the HU does not have RCA line out. If it does you are in luck.
and if so does your amp have a Low pass crossover in it? if this is true all you need ot do is run a paid of RCA from the HU to the amp switch on the Low Pass Crossover and connect the sub to the amp.

Now if you dont have either....

You will need a speaker level to RCA level adapter. then use the rear speaker out and connect this adapter across the rear speaker out. connect the adapter to the amp and let your subs run fullrange. Not as effective but the inductance of the sub will act as a slow filter.
