That's the excuse I always use.

Jokes apart, when I'm out for work (yes, I do that sometimes), my car's most often parked in the sun & am worried that it'll get stinking hot in more ways than one.

All that rubber will definitely make me sick by the time I get back.

Do Dynamat, Wuerth, etc. also stink?

Let me get this straight. It smells now? Before the sun warms it up?

Shrivz, you're going to sacrifice your olfactory sense i favour of aural excitement?

I suggest DIYing a gas mask. Start with an old Y front underwear....
:p

Navin I suggest we remove all of Shrivz's and related posts from this thread and create a DIY damping thread, in the DIY section.

It is a bit painful so please be patient I am not good at all this computer stuff.

actually, its not stinking at the moment, im just dreading the worst!

anyways, if it does stink and becomes intolerable, I'll start a new thread..

The Dont DIY damping thread!

lol:

and of course get rid of the damping..

Another DIY tip, shrivz. Add lumps of charcoal - 2 for each door, 2 below each seat. It should take care of the smell of the rubber. I always install a lump of charcoal in my rubber before usage.

In case that doesn't work, I could sell you a slightly used pair of my Y-fronts. It's still got the original labelling, but no box.

Since you're a BHPian, it'll be cheap. Only 300 bucks.

Do you need to? Considering the rubber you are using has high carbon content (BTW it is also electrically conductive).

The Behavior of Carbon Black-Filled Natural Rubber under High Strain Rates

My point exactly.

To quote:
"The modulus increased with increasing strain rate because there was little time for stress relaxation. Above a critical strain rate, no change in modulus was observed because the time of the experiment was short compared to the lowest characteristic relaxation time of the material. Dynamic stress-extension ratio curves did not have the very sharp upturn at break, which is observed from strain-induced crystallization in natural rubber under quasistatic loading."

In simpler terms, don't overuse your prophylactics or you'll suffer from overstrain & failure. Use the blue pill to avoid such situations.

Especially at our age.

@elf: thanks.. but i dont need the Y-fronts... the car was in the sun the whole day and isnt smelling..

Finished the second door today.. and I'm happy.. still need to identify some very minor rattles, (this takes the maximum time!)

cheerss!

shrivz, don't mean to nit-pick, but was the car closed & parked in the sun or was it open?

I'm really curious because as I explained to you the other day, I plan to use copious quantities of the stuff all over the interior, & don't want my car smelling like a new gum boot.

Navin, he adds the lump of charcoal to his rubber before use, so as to fill up the rubber nicely. Endowment is a requirement these days, gone are the days when size didn't matter.

Reminds me of a song my son was singing a few weeks ago. Something like

"My love (love), my love, my love, my love (love)
You love my lady lumps (love)...
My lovely lady lumps (lumps)
In the back and in the front (lumps)"

Size doesn't matter. Remember, I'm the one who chopped 4 inches off my shaft to increase pleasure. That's 'gear shaft' & 'shifting pleasure'.

I was talking about the smell of the rubber. Nobody wants a stinky butyl smell when you're in the mood to have some fun. Correct? :)

Also, shrivz is making his own rubber. Such problems would not arise if one used more expensive off the rack options.

i shall send you a free 1" x 1" sample.. I'm assuming you have a heat gun at home so that you can put it on..

sorry for going OT guys.. its elf's fault!
