Just came across this product on Aliexpress. The product review and features are quite impressive. Works as both front dash cam and rear camera. Its android and we can install any app which we use in our mobile including navigation.

Has anyone used this type of product, if someone can share his experience or thoughts about this product it will be of great help as I am getting inclined towards it for my XUV W6 as I miss coloured screen lots in my car and even rear-view camera.

For my mini DVR, I have used this leaving the 12V Socket alone.

My DIY attempt at adding a CPL filter to the mini 0805 with neodymium magnets - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-d...ml#post3969792

As the shine from the chrome on the magnets was messing up the discreet look of the Mini 0805 and the black marker coverage not being satisfactory.

Spray painted the magnets black.

Just an update for folks with Mini 0805's planning to add a CPL in a similar way.

Thanks for the tip Harsh. I'll probably stick all my magnets on a suitable magnetic base and paint them before sticking them to the cam. Just waiting for the lenses to arrive now.

That's great to hear. Just a quick question on the suction cup - will it be able to withstand Indian summers, when the car is parked out in the sun, say for an hour or two.

I have two in my windshield - one is for Transcend dash cam and the other is for Capdase mobile holder. Both didn't fall even a single time, and we park car outside.

I am using DrivePro 220 since February-March 2016. Not even a single time it has fallen in summer time in 40'C. It is really very good. Worth spending 10,000/- for it.

Harsh, that's a neat trick. Didn't know that such small rare earth magnets were so easily available here in India. In fact I too had ordered two CPL filters, for my front and rear dashcams, from AliExpress but there was no sign of them after more than 60 days, so I cancelled the order. I'll try again, using your link and also order the magnets to fit them to my cams. Thanks.

Well, my CPL lenses arrived a couple of days ago, after about two and a half months. Must have been held up in India, since the shipment date from China is 26th Feb.
Anyway, I remembered I had a set of rare earth magnets, picked up during a trip to Canada many years ago and lying forgotten in my cupboard, so I dug that out and this is what I just did, sitting in my office.
I'll let the pics speak for themselves, but I'll explain that the paper clip was used to align three magnets so that they would stick together, in a straight line, to each side of the lens on the cam. The cellotape on the clip is just in case any excess Fevikwik sticks to the clip and prevents me from freeing it.
Three magnets on either side are quite enough to hold the lens in place.
A word of caution to anyone doing something similar with superglue: Don't be in a hurry to put the lens in place and try it out. I was impatient to see the effect and I think as a result, the residual vapours from the cyanoacrylate affected the lens slightly. So wait for maybe half an hour or more to let any vapours evaporate before you check out your handiwork.
A quick check from my office window doesn't seem to show up any great improvement with the lens, even after rotating it, so I'll see how it behaves during my return trip this evening.
I have a second CPL lens and more magnets, so I'll use them to do the same to my rear dashcam, when I get the time during daytime.
Remember not to use too much superglue. just enough to wet the surface. It does eat into the plastic just a wee bit.
Cheers

Hi Friends. I wanted to share something which I am facing right now. I am using Transcend DrivePro 220. I have kept the video resolution at 720p which gives approximately 18hours of recording in 64GB card. I am using Transcend 64GB Class 10 memory card.

I love to record and collect the videos of my long road trips. I had left for Mysore from Pune on 13.05.2016 and had a night halt at Davangere. I am thankful to Parag and Ampere for their valuable inputs. I left for davangere at 7am and reached there by 6pm. I recorded approximately 10-11hrs of video. The view and scene were so beautiful that I can't describe it in words. I was carrying my laptop and card reader with me, so that at the end of each stay I can remove the memory card, transfer the videos and format the card so that, I can record fresh videos. But my laptop ditched me leaving me red faced. The moment I removed the memory card, inserted in the card reader and then in the laptop, while accessing it, it showed your card is not formatted, do you want to format it? I tried it 4-5 times every time it showed the same message. I was really helpless. I cannot format the memory card as I would have lost the entire recording.

I searched for a mobile shop in Davangere and luckily I was able to get Transcend 64GB Class 10 memory card. I used the second memory card for Davangere to Mysore. I should have carried my external hard drive with me. I should have carried my hard drive with me so that, i could have transferred the video to the hard drive at some cyber cafe. I checked in at Reliance Digital, Mysore Mall it was of Rs. 4100. I even requested him that, I am ready to buy the hard drive if he can help me in transferring the videos to the hard drive. He said he was unable to do so.

I even downloaded the Transcend DrivePro Tool in my laptop. But I can only download the video on my iphone. If I try to download on my iphone and from iphone to laptop then I might be spending my entire time copying videos instead of enjoying the trip.

So friends whoever likes to copy and collect the videos of road trips, please make sure you check your laptop, memory card reader and memory card. Insert the memory card in the laptop and check whether its opening or not. Is it saying that, you are required to format the card. Hopefully will try to find some solution in Ooty. Either I will buy a hard drive and transfer all the videos to it or take 20-30 DVDs for the data. Anybody having any solution or idea to deal with the situation may kindly put forth their suggestion. Will be thankful.

Detach your camera and connect it to your laptop, you'll be able to view all files thereby bypassing the need of a card reader. The USB cable that comes with the Drivepro is to be used.

You could try exploring the memory card using some data recovery tools. I remember facing a similar issue with my portable drives and some memory cards too. While it doesn't guarantee an entire recovery, I was able to salvage a substantial amount of data instead of losing the entire stuff due to formatting.

Recently purchased this Dashcam DVR from Taotronics TT-CD05

http://www.taotronics.com/taotronics...r-carmera.html

It looks and works exactly as described. The video quality is really good especially in the day time. I have to check the night time videos yet.
I thought I will post about it as it might be easy to source directly from Amazon.

BoneCollector I did not get the cable to connect to Laptop. I got the cable to plug into the cigarette charger. If i had the cable I would have definitely used it. Can I get the cable from Ooty. Any shop??

Turbo_Torq you are right but its difficult to get the important data.

Hii guys have been looking at getting the transcend drivepro 220 from Amazon. It's a good dashcam in my opinion and comes with a lot of bells and whistles. The prices however are now at their highest at 10.7k from last week's 9.9k. Are there better VFM alternatives easily available in India.
Also can all these dashcams be simply powered by a USB port / cable rather than the car charger.
Thanks

The Transcend models and Blaupunkt are the only dashcams available with Indian manufacturer warranty. The Blaupunkt one is around 4k.

Do check other sites for the lowest price.

It is not recommended to power a dashcam via the USB port, if you do not want to use the cigarette lighter socket, you can hard-wire the dashcam, using a hard-wire kit and fuse tap.

Hii harsh that is some useful information. Thanks. I too was looking at choosing between the two cams above you've mentioned. I would be little hesitant in hard wiring the dashcam in a brand new vehicle so will just have to use the conventional method stupid:. Any reason why the USB port shouldn't be used.
