Dont drill any holes, you can try placing it on the dash near the A pillar first and secure the tweeter with a double sided tape. If you are not happy you can always remove and place it elsewhere. The 608c being a little bright I prefer this location. And remember to set the tweeter level at -6db on the crossover.

Thanks a lot sateesh. Will definitely take ur take on that. Spoke to technokrat and he told me to drill a hole int he pillar or the door pad(Like in bakiya's car), was skeptical of it from the beginning because I didnt want to drill in a brand new car.

Gurus following are my requirements.

1. Your Car: Swift VXI

2. Your current setup (If any): NA

3. Your Budget: Max 15K currently. Will customize later when i have more cash.

4. Do you drive most of the time or is it chauffer driven? Self, but car will also be taken out for family trips which means that I need some speakers for the rear.

5. Your Music preferences (Genres, favorite artists, etc.):Soft/Classic Rock, Ghazals, Hindi oldies. I care more about SQ and not about BOOM. Will hardly play at more than 50% of the volume knob.

6. Are you ready to sacrifice your boot space/modify door panels? : Open to sacrifice of boot space but want to minimize the loss!

My Current Findings -

HU: Pioneer 7250 SD (already bought Singapore Grey market)

F.Speakers -Components - JBL 608c (~6K with BW)
R.Speakes- Coaxial - JBL 938 (~5K with BW)
Total Cost Including installation - 11K- with b&w.

Questions:
Do i really need AMPs,Subwoofers given I don't really listen to 'loud' music.
Also, what about dampening and wiring?

Is the above a good setup given my music tastes? Or Given my budget, should I go for infinity and if yes which ones and estimated price?

can you guys suggest a reliable place for buying and installing it in Delhi ( I stay in Dwarka).

Help much appreciated!

Thanks

Gurus, please help me out with the query above.

I'm now inclined towards ditching JBL as they sound bright to me...is illusion a better option then? Can I mix Illusion Electra El6.1 with JBL 948? Will that require an AMP?

Also, please tell me about reliable places in Delhi (Janakpuri, Dwarka Area).

Thanks!

Hi guys,

I am in the process of upgrading my ICE in my Swift and currently using 02 JBL amps; the JBL GTO 75.4 & the JBL GTO 301.1 which are fitted in the boot behind the rear seat.

Eventhough the wiring is hidden, I would still want to make the boot look a little more cleaner and organized and hence thinking of placing then in the boot itself but in the area at the sides but behind the tail lights. Hope Ive explained the area well. I am however concerned about the ventilation of the amps. Is it ok to have them installed in that area or will it hinder prope ventilation?

I've never read so much on ICE in my lifetime than I have in the last one week! I am planning to install ICE on my swift for which I need help.
My priority is:
1. Loud Bass
2. Loud Bass
3. Deep Thump/Punch & Loud Bass
4. Great Quality Sound

Initially I'd only be able to procure the items out of either one of the setups below:
(a) 1 HU, 2 Comp Speakers for front door & 1 amp
(b) 1 HU, 2 Comp Speakers for front door & 2 co-ax for the rear door
The budget for this is 15-16k (definitely not exceeding 16.5k)

What I have narrowed down to is just the HU i.e. Pioneer DEH-4190SD - hope its a decent HU. I saw a lot of mention of JBL comp speakers but still want to explore other options if in budget.

Now the car is driven with a single occupant (me) 5 days a week and only my wife accompanying me on long drives (once a month). Since there isn't really anybody in the back would it make sense to go for co-ax in the rear door. I mean if I could rather go for a decent amp instead to ensure great quality sound.

Now the second part is that once this setup is done with, the next step would be getting a sub (or two) & another mono amp (or 2 channel) for it. This would be done next month or so. Reason I'm stating this now is because I'm assuming the choice of HU & comp speakers now would have some correlation with the subs & amp I get next.
Budget for the sub(s) and amp(s) would be no more than 15k but I'd come back to you guys for this later.

Hope this isn't too confusing.

Audio Gurus?? Need help with the new setup please!

The priorities you have listed are unlikely to be satisfied unless you add a sub or at least 6x9 coaxes. Front Components only are unlikely to satisfy your quest for bass. Also, I assume that the HU is in the same Phase 1 budget.

I would suggest that you do the following:
1. Phase 1: Get a decent HU for 6-8K - Kenwood, JVC, Blau, Pio. Get a good pair of components for the front (~6K) - JBL, Infinity, Blau, Polk (db, not Momo), Auditor, Bull etc. Get a pair of JBL 6x9 coax on a parcel shelf (~4K). Drive the speakers from the HU
2. Phase 2: Get a decent 4-channel amp (~6K) - JBL, Blau, Kenwood, Pio. Shift the front components to the front channels of the amp. Get a JBL or Bull 12" sub in a sealed box (~5-6K incl. box), and connect it to the rear channels of the amp (bridged). Let the rear ovals be on the HU

Ask around for good deals, but first connect with a good installer - verify their abilities from the installs they have made. They should be able to give you audition of the stuff that you want to put in.

Thanks for the response. I'm not looking for bass during Phase 1.
In Phase 1 I'll acquire 1 HU, 2 comps and 1 amp or 1 HU, 2 comp and 2 co-ax.

My real worry was that since I drive the car alone most of the times and if at all there is a passenger that too is in the front so would co-ax in the rear make sense. And while typing I just thought of a 3rd possible setup.

How about I get the Pio HU 4190 SD and 2 components in the front along with a sub in Phase 1. (~16k?)
And once this is done I get 2 amps and another sub the next month. (~15k?)

I can limit my usage of the sub until I get the amps if playing the sub without amp is bad.

Important: My dad is going to sponsor Phase 1 which would be around 15-16k and then I can shell out another 15k from my pocket. So the total cost of the setup would be around 30k but it's got to be done in 2 phases.

Hi All,

Looking for the Gurus to help me with a Go No-Go call on the option that I believe will be a cool ICE to have on my yet o be delivere Swift Vdi. Appreciate if you all could share your thoughts on the ICE for my ride, budget about 40~45K:-

1.HU: ALPINE CDE-W203E
2.Amp: 4 Channel - ALPINE MRP-F300
3.Components Spks for front seats : Rockford Fosgate ROCKFORD 1652S
4.Door Spks for Rear seats :Rockford Fosgate ROCKFORD P1653
5.Sub: Rockford Fosgate ROCKFORD R1L-1X12

Kindly do advise me if my selection of components are compatible, will I be getting a better product/make in the same price range and most importantly will I be able to warp up the above said including installation, cables and dampening in about my budget of 45K.

Thanks.
Bharath

Hi All, I am in the process of upgrading my ice. Currently looking at a mono Amp and Sub, Hoping to get something nice for ~25K. Looking at good sound quality. I am inclined towards the Enclosures by JBL and Focal.

Looking forward to the Gurus of ICE to help me out. please: help me in making my decision.

Thanks
Bharath

Looks good, no incompatibilities here. But, have you taken the time to listen to what you want to buy, especially the speakers?

I wish to ICE my 3 yr old swift. Currently I dont have any music system fitted. I am looking out for a HU with bluetooth I have shortlisted Pioneer 6250 and Kenwood 7046BT. Would someone recommend me appropriate speakers for front and rear I intend to fit rear speakers in door and not in parcel tray in the boot. I am looking for good SQ. Also which of pioneer or kenwood would be better. My budget is approx 16,000. Any idea where in Mumbai Kenwood HU's are available could not find any at market near Opera House. Thanks

Well I did have the opportunity to be at Best Buy's Car Audio demo section in the US. It was there that I fell in love with Rockford Fosgate. The speakers are excellent to hear to and offer a deep and clear listening experience (a.k.a the WOW effect).

I was wondering if you or any of the other Gurus heard/experienced specific issues with Fosgate speakers/components or if you believe there are alternatives that can offer the same at a better Value for Money proposition.

As I said my budget is 40~45K. Getting the Alpine HU from the US. The components, rear door speakers and sub woofer all to be bought in India.

Looking forward to hearing from all.

Thanks.
Bharath
