937 in a tray (acting as a baffle board) will give you much more bass and mid bass. Also the position of the rear speakers will be higher and therefore more audible.
Disadvantages: Loss of baggage space. Possible tray rattle.
In the stock locations, it will be neat and tidy, but do not expect much bass from the 6" coaxes in the door.
Sam sir,
I want to buy JBL GTO 0607 for front of my Swift Vxi. For rear either GTO 0637 or GTO937. I am based in Agra, UP. Can you please suggest where I can find them in Agra and approx. price I should expect? If it's not possible in Agra, I can request my sister to pick them up from Mumbai, if you can recommend a dealer and its location/address and price to expect.
I would really appreciate any help you can provide in this regards.
Thanks.please:

hey guys now in the above setup if i replace the GTO937 with GTO637, how much difference will it make to the sound?
.. |
you will notice a drop in the midbass. the thump of the midbass will be missing. Some like me dont care for this thump as it is not natural others like it as it is fun.

Ajay was giving you 2.7db of headroom. :-)
Hey ..
JBL GTO 937- @ 3960/- seems expensive to me ..
I bought GTO 937 for 3.5 k (with B & W) last saturday.
Folks, my Swift LDI is getting delivered next week clap:. I want to get her ice'd pretty much the first chance I get. I need some help planning the system - Guru's please advise. I'm a newbie where car audio is concerned - whatever information i've gathered has been done by scouring the ICE section for the last week. Will be going tomorrow to scout arounnd and get a good idea about prices etc. and listen to a few speakers.
Budeget: 15-18k (as against the 10-13k decreed by the missus-to-be). cant really stretch beyond that without gettint into trouble
Music:I listen mainly to rock - along the spectrum from soft rock (Simon and Garfunkel) to death metal (Slayer). Missus-to-be likes a bit of jazz and some thump-thump music. The volumes wont be too loud. Would be largely self driven but need sound in the back as well for drives with friends
Other main constraint: Want to sacrifise as little space as possible so would prefer to sacrifise as little space as possible. Also, would be mounting tweeters (if any) on the dash
HU: I had the Pio 4050 in mind. Need the aux-in and USB. like the optionality the three RCA outs give. Any other suggestions on HU from another brand are also welcome. Any idea how much the 4050 is for (b/w and grey)?
Front: was thinking of components if the budget permits - JB GT5, GTO and Hertz seem to be in the 5-6k range. I understand GT5 and Hertz DSK come recommended - will be listening to them befor deciding. If the budget is getting squeezed, might need to move to coaxials - have some ideas on that as well. basically sticking to the same brands
Rear: Here I'm quite confused - wondering if I can get decent sound without going the parcel tray route. Any thoughts? For stock locations, these are the ones I was planning to look at: GTO637 and the Hertz DCX165 (6.5" co-axials, Rs.4.9K)
Amp: Not sure if I need onestupid:. Above what volume level do I need one? What power would I need? Also, the all important money question
Damping: what is the bare minimum I need? How much will it cost?
Sub: I dont think the budget or the space constraint will permit one so might need to let it be.
Install: Any suggestions on where to get the install? Was planning to scout around a bit in Santa Cruz tomorrow. Would like a place which is reliable and offers decent prices.
Sorry for the long post. I really want to get this right.
IMO, do it in phases.
Phase I
5-6K for the HU (Pio)
5K for front components (JBL)
4K for a 2 channel amp (Blau/JBL)
2K for wiring & install
That's a total of 16-17K and will keep you very satisfied.
Phase II
2-3K for basic front door damping (do it in phase I if possible)
3-4K when you can arrange it, for oval coaxes + mdf board. Do this, ie catering to your friends' listening needs at the very end ;)
A 2 channel amp should do for you since you never plan to have a sub due to space constraints.

For 2k, you can do the front and rear doors. Whether you have audio or not, you need to damp alot in the Swift, to prevent rattling.

Thanks for that ShuvC. Will try that option. Any suggestions on wiring?

Any thoughts on installers? Someone recommended Bhavi in Milan Subway. Plan to go check them out tomorrow. Any idea how their rates are and whether the installs are clean?
jaibir
if it was me with 18K budget then i would do the following!
for front i would get the GTO 607C components from jbl grey for 4000-4500 depends on how negotiate the price!
rear GTO937 coaxials with plank should not cost you more than 5000 grey!
the HU pioneer 5050 with three preamp outs costs about 5500 grey
this i suggest just in case if you want to upgrade with a sub in the future! this HU also has usb!
now this sums up to 15000, i suggest you get a sony 2 channel 350watts 602 model amp for around 2500 to power the front components for now later when you have the money go a head and buy a 4 channel amp and use this 2 channel to power the sub!
power the rear coaxials from the HU!
and get use the rest 500 bucks for the normal RCA and other wiring!
you really wont need to do damping with this set up!
in summary
GTO607C JBL 4500
GTO937 JBL and plank 5000
pioneer 5050 5500
2channel amp 2500
for RCA cable and wiring 500
----------
TOTAL 18000
----------
well later on i would upgrade the rest!
i have suggested you to go for grey because of the budget constraints if not you can get them with bill and warranty and will increase the budget by atleast another 5-6K IMO its not worth it!
but strongly recommend to go for grey only if you have a good rapport with the shop owner, i mean he should consider and change the faulty components if any at least with a month!
and about the RCA you do get good quality local RCAs and wiring with in 500 for the configuration i suggested!

Abhi se?
@shuvc has given a very rational approach.
Another possibility is to PM @bass&trouble (he is in China right now) and listen to Illusion Electras.
Before deciding on the brand of the speakers, you MUST audition a couple of brands IN THE CAR to check what suits your taste. The range in your budget is quite wide.
@rider60 Thanks for the inputs. I'll definitely be getting the HU in grey but will probably need to stick to b/w speakers and amp. I'm really not savvy enough on speakers to spot a fake. Will try and take an audiophile friend along for help
@DerAlte just getting some practise early onlol:. Is it possible to get a demo in the car? I thought they only gave a demo on those in-shop mounted boards. Thanks for the inputs
The overall consensus seems to be Pio HU + 2 channel amp + Front components + Rear ovals w/ MDF board. I'll check on damping options as well. The whole thing might need to be done in phases - depending on where the budget runs out. I'll be scouting a couple of places around Bandra and Santa Cruz today. Will post details later

Bhavi is a very good dealership. Only genuine goods, no fakes or con-jobs.
I dont know what you mean by "rates" since he mostly stocks official stuff which will come with MRP indicated. Installation charges etc are very reasonable. Installation quality is good, and the system you are contemplating isnt the most demanding in that dept. There is a skilled installation team working for Bhavi as well as neighbouring Choksi, Jai Car and Shreyas.
Jaibir - I would suggest not to buy grey market speakers, and certainly not to use local RCA's please. Speakers are very very important part of your system dont skimp on them.

Dude without ICE also you need to go for damping in the Swift.
I would suggest you the following for 18k.
Fronts - Illusion Electra EL 6.1 2 way components - 6.5k
Damping - Noise Kill for front doors and boot(it rattles alot) - 2k
Install - 1k
Wiring Harness to install HU - Rs. 250(make sure you get this, otherwise if the installer cuts your wires its sure to void your warranty)
MDF Ring - Rs. 250
HU Pio 5050UB(with USB, grey) - 5.5k
JBL 937 - 4k
MDF - 1k(This is not included in your budget since you wont spend 1.6k on the MSIL Parcel Shelf)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Total - 19.5(slightly over budget but you will love the way the car sounds, no rattles)
To round off 20k, .5k you can send me a cake :p
I would not suggest you a amp since your requirements really dont need one. You will get good thump and bass from the JBL 6x9s

Till now, i have found Boom Audio in Bandra to be the best installer, very professional job and he keeps noise kill too.

Thanks for the inputs BUSA. I got similar advise on the b/w speakers from my audiophile friend - he pointed out that car speakers get blown a lot more often than regular speakers so a warranty is useful.
Does Boom Audio carry a wide range of components? Any other sugeestions on where to find non-JBL speakers are also welcome. I spent some time scouting around Milan Subway today. No one had Illusion or Hertz componenents. One shop had Kicker 937's but again no components. Unfortunately Bhavi and Choksi were both shut.
I guess I can argue the damping and tray are not part of the ICE budget. Would save me a little trouble with the missus to be clap:
I'm auditioning a friend's system who is running JBL components in all four doors without an amp. Should get a better idea from that.
