Things have changed now. Today the problems in Nakamichi HU's freaks out people, so the population of "Nakamichi Freaks" is negligible

CD-45Z and CD700II used to be in my list of excellent HU's...not anymore because of problems, major problem is transport failure.

I see a Nautilus Prestige in your avatar, if you own that, $2000 shouldn't be a lot of money for you.

There are better options than both Nakamichi and B&W today in their respective price bracket.

yeah cud be.... nakamichi definetly...... B&W maybe too...as people are constantly innovating........well am still working on my wish list.... The only high end audio stuff i have right now are a pair of senheisser 280PRO headphones......apart from my car audio set up..
BTW do ppl have too mcuh money or do i have less money ..as 25-35K amt qualifies as a low budget car audio system these days....

BUT we better not discuss too much non car stuff here..as we might get kicked out....

ad oh yeahh ..jsut bought 34 inch WEGA...for seeing my DVD's.. not much of a LCD or pLasma screen fan....A good AMP is definelty my first item on my wish list..probably end 2006.....

There are more listenable speakers than B&W. Note I did not say "better".

I for one find most of their stuff too bright esp the 600 series. The 800 series is a lot better esp the stuff they made for BBC's Mastering Studios (some time back).

That said the Nak days are behind them. Gone are the days fo the Dragon, 1000ZXL, 48x, 58x, 68x etc.. As far as Car Audio goes their TD700 was greeat but that was the last of the great decks, I was rather disappointed by their MB series.

oo yah..the DRAGON and the 1000zx.etc..brings back such memories....
I actaully never heard any of there car audio stuff....

Well,,B&W are cetainly amonsgt teh best Ive heard...

i heard a customized installation at a friends place...he is a pure jazz man...was grt for jazz music...but was not too grt for rock... the lows were awesoem there.... were lacking on the mids...
but he had a grt set up... full passive amplification... that was abt 6 yrs back

NAK was bought out by the Chinese some time back.. Although it is not a very publicised fact, NAK is a Chinese brand now . No wonder NAK is not what it used to be..
