If having a good loud setup, play Benny "Benassi - Whos Your Daddy" at full blast, great thump in it, and coughing sounds???

this is OT but in Wave you dont get ID3 tags with FLAC, WavPak, Monkey's Audio etc... you do and they are lossless too.

Best compromise between these two is to rip mp3 at higher bitrates..say 356kbps. These definitely sound better than the "conventional" 128kbps ones and you also get id3 tags.

All right..here goes.. soem nice Hindi releases i have liked : ( as soemone was complianing that this forum only talks of english music )...

1. Mumbai Salsa
2.Sanwariya ( great music but...terrible terrible recording..what were they thinking..ruined a great CD.. )

Soem noteworthy releases:
1.Omkara ( by far one of the finest hindi recording production quality i have heard.. both arrangement and vocals have been captured superbly )

lossless using wavpack/flac etc.. occupies about 3 times the disk space as a high quality 256k CBR or very high quality VBR MP3 rip. so it depends on if one has the space. all the formats mentioned above offer ID3.

Good songs for a loud setup - Rob Zombie's Dragula / Rammstein (Du Hast, Engel)
Eagles Hotel California (unplugged live), Floyd Comming back to life for peaceful listening.

and to add to that list, most of A.R. Rehman's recordings, especially the first release of Rangeela, (the subsequent releases are nowhere close to the first one)

I think you wanted to say 320kbps - Highest bitrate allowed in MP3 is 320kbps AFAIK.

Yeah thanks...I meant that only
But Navinji,if I am correct, commonly available players in the market (car stereos as well as home audio) do not support lossless formats.
Hence, high/ variable bit rate mp3's would still be a good option.
And by the way, many HUs support AAC. Is it any better than mp3 as claimed?

AFAIK AAC is again a lossy compression format just like MP3 but it is supposed to be better than MP3 .

And guys do check out ROCKBOX for Ipod and other DAPs . It basically replaces the default operating system (ya can always revert by clicking on the restore button) . Rockbox has a lot of benefits over the normal OS . They include support for other formats like FLAC ! You also have games , apps and lotsa other stuff for it . It also includes a plugin for scrobbling for the users of last.fm ! Do check it out !! And am in no way connected to rockbox , just a happy user ! Rockbox - Open Source Jukebox Firmware being the website

And yea since it supports Lossless formats like FLAC , we can enjoy higher quality music when itz connected to a compatible HU
