Hi Morten..

Welcome to T-Bhp...!!

The 8650 is the one you should use .,,,it gives you a ot of tuning options... However the P1Y is klnown to be a powerful HU - Powerwise... IN case you are not planning to use an amplifier I will recommend this one...

Do tell us what you have in mind.. and we'll help blow up your $$$ ..

ONce again.. Welcome on Board - Do read the announcements and Rules section ... and HAVE A BLAST!!

Burr Browns do very nice things to the sound... makes it more wholesome and life like... esp the highs.. So yes.. the Burr brown'd HU will sound better than a non bb deck (... well most times!...) .. specifically YES.. the 8650 will have better SQ (Sound Quality) than the p1y ..

You still havent answered the bit about the amplifier... what equipment are you planning to put in .. and what kind of sound do you like..??

I have a P8650 !! Its got all the bells and whistles of a 15-16K HU (grey). But a few probs i've been facing is as follows

1. CD ejection problems ... this is common to all pioneers i guess i had it in my 5750 too.

2. One fine day my Display stopped working. Later after a lot of hesistation i got it openned and found out that everything was ok but a resistor had conked off for whatever reasons. Got it replaced for Rs300 and its working fine.

What i liked was

1. 13band eq

2. 3 preouts with 6.5V

3. Network mode for whenever i upgrade (Tx JB )

4. Uploadable OEL Graphics/animations etc

5. TA with Mic.

Cheers

morton,i will advice u to change ur front speakers and get components speakers there before u buy amplifier.[read 'glossary of terminology' thread to know what it is]

U can get nice pair of components for about 5-6k[Hertz,JBL,Alpine R type]

Where have u installed those 4 6x9 oval speakers. Now dont tell me that all r at back and just tweeters at front????

And for a budget of 7k there is very good option in Pioneer 6100,a great VFM.

I would definetely recommend the P1Y.
It looks good, got some real nice functionalities as well. One of my friends has it in his car, I really like the clarity and quality of sound. Its priced round about 10500 here in Bangalore.

Rgds

hi guys ,i hear the price of p1y is 10-11000 but the dealer in chd is asking 13500 for the same as it is not available in chd anymore but he has one piece left and everyone says the model is not available easily anymore. so is the p1y worth 13or13500 or should i go for alpine .regarding pioneer 8650 i have read in many other forums that the faceplate causes many a problem more than p1y.which model of alpine or clarion do u suggest.thanks
