i want sound clarity and each note to be distinct.... say 20-30 is the budget .. and with the DSP linked above i can set the listening position to driver only and all 4 speakers will be adjusted to my position in the car andthe sound stage set accordingly...
pls let me know...

again i dont want a box as trunk space is critical for me.
u can get boom boom , dhoom dhoom or the ching ching depending on how u set ur eq & sound settings in ur hu. if u r a real connoseiur, u will appreciate the deep resonance from the sub to go with the sharp sounds from ur tweeters. i think iraghava has given u a pretty good combination. prune it a little if it affects ur budget & add them later. amp is a must, even if u dont want a sub.

cheers

Sub could be Pioneer 306 or JBL GT 12. Not sure if you have too many options for 10"

Amp again depending on your budget either you can get a decent 2-ch amp or a monobloc to drive the sub.

Do you want the speakers to be driven off an amp too??

should the speakerds be driven off an amp
i am getting the infinitys for like 6.5
the fonts for 1.5
the hu for 6
i have abt 8 k to play with
so sub and amp for 8 k
BUT open air no box

If you want good sound the speakers should also be driven off an amp. But since you have a limited budget, you can drive them off the HU too.

So you are getting Infinity 6*9's for 6.5k. I would advise you to drop them as they would create a rear soundstage which you do not want unless you are chauffered. I would advise

JBL Comps at the front 6-7k (This will give you good front sound stage)
JBL Co-Axials at the rear 3-4k
Pioneer 306 Free Air woofer on rear tray 3.5-4k
Sony 502 Amp 3.5-4k
Wires & Install 2k

P.S. Sam/Navin/Gubir/B&T - Is it advisable to install a free-air woofer? Would it pump out any SQ or will it just be boom-boom? Do you think he should probably drop the amp & woofer & go in for a good 4-ch amp to drive the speakers??

.
All speakers come in a set of two i.e. for the 507 you will have two bass speakers, two tweeters & two crossovers. Subwoofers are sold as single units.

invest on good quality speakers & amp, if ur budget would allow that...try hertz or boston also, but amp is a must, if u really love ur music.
