Re: DIY: Adding a USB port to the Ford Figo

I finished the DIY yesterday but when going through Source button on the head unit, the USB option is not coming up. Since mine is Figo Exi version (May 2011), I am not sure if head unit software supports the USB function at all. Just like we get Aux option even when there is no aux cable attached, were you used to get USB option even before doing the DIY?

I'm not sure if Figo had different HUs across variants (during early days) Can someone please confirm?

I remember the USB option was displayed only after connecting the cable

Just went through the thread again and saw that Fiesta HU without USB and Bluetooth option. This is the same HU I have in my Figo so I guess the software in the HU doesn't support the USB (although ports at the back of HU are exactly same as yours).

Do you get the USB option even if pen drive is not plugged in into the female port of the USB wire?

I will also check with Ford if they can add USB to it or not. If their answer is yes and that too without upgrading any software, then it might be a problem with the wire/fitting in my HU.

Just an update about the socket type for USB connectivity.. The pins (on the audio )are NOT rectangular now, So the sockets have to be circular to grip it. Posting the photos for everyone's reference.

Thanks Mr.Boss and my USB is working fine.

To remove the unit, push the U clamp to an "inch" inside and not too deep. Handle carefully or U clamp may scratch the plastics.

Re: DIY: Adding a USB port to the Ford Figo

Great DIY.

I remember the Ford service guys ripping some 1000+ bucks off my pocket for adding this USB cable to the HU back in 2011 while my Figo ZXI TDCi was still very new. I did not enquire about after market ones at all because I was a newbie to cars with sophisticated electronics (the car I was used to driving then was my old and cute little 800 )

Re: DIY: Adding a USB port to the Ford Figo

Hey thanks so much. My 2013 model Figo Titanium came with the cable but it got missing after 60k servicing as fass. By the time I noticed it was missing it was a week or so and obviously they didn't take any responsibility then. Later on I asked the price of the cable and they quoted 1k+. I felt the price was ridiculous for a usb cable. I will install one now by myself. Really thanks a lot!

Which model figo is this one? Mine is Sep 2013 model. I will be in the market for sometime and an early response will help me to get the correct pin.Didn't get a chance to check my HU.

My Figo model is 2010, but I replaced my HU in Jan 2016.

You may consider this as well, cheaper than Ford A.S.S cost.

Re: DIY: Adding a USB port to the Ford Figo

I actually did it myself. Thanks to this post. I couldn't find the clips of such small size. Instead one parts shop gave me a cable set for Bajaj bike which had 4 such clips attached. Costed me 40bucks.
