Pioneer was available in India before just about everyone else but it took it's time to appoint an official dealer/distributor/representative.
BTW JBL is now owned and managed by Harmon Intl. Sidney Harmon and Bernard Kardon founded Harmon Kardon in 1953. At one time I had a reciever they produced called the TA230 along with a Avery Fisher integrated amp called the TX100.
Today the brand names include JBL, Infinity, AKG, Crown, Studer-Revox, dbx, BSS, Lexicon, Mark Levinson, Revel, Audioaccess, Phatnoise, Soundcraft, Crown, Becker, DigiTech etc. On 30-Nov-2004, the HAR acquired QNX Software Systems Ltd. and even more recently acquired Wavemakers.

JBL was acquired by Harman Kardon (predessor of Hrman International) from William Thomas in 1969. Mr. Thomas's story (the part related to JBL and Mr. Lansing) is found here... http://www.audioheritage.org/html/hi...g/founding.htm http://www.audioheritage.org/html/people/thomas.htm
