Alas!

If that was true!

You know, God has been rather unkind to me (or he's paying me back for all the pornographic movies I've been watching since the age of 12, then that's fair!)

I went to an all-boys school called Don Bosco. I thought my parents would atleast consult me before enrolling me in an institution where I had to spend 12 years of my life!!! I mean, isn't a 3 and a half year old boy entitled to make some decisions?

I used to think I was the only unfortunate soul to be subjected to this on the forum. It was a big relief to know that one of the moderators (GTO), was also from my school. But he told me he got married a couple of months back, so that is no consolation to me!

Then I went to Khalsa College for the XIth and XIIth. There I had a tough time telling apart the girls from the 'phaajis' who let their hair loose. (C'mon, at age 16 you don't know whether the chicas have facial hair or not!)

Then, as God would have it, I had to enrol for the Mech Engg stream. There was one girl in the class... but she made us all wish we were homosexuals.

Now the domain is audio, and .... sob, if the chickies count on this forum is anything to go by... I'm going to be Arnie in a few more months (at the forearms)!

I would question the realiability and warranty of the HU. Instead you could spend about 1.2K more and get yoruself a base pioneer/sony mp3 HU, which is a lot more reliable and even though it would be a greay market purchase, service and parts are widely available. Of course you wouldnt get the iPod feature but again thats a suspect..., sounds like a marketing gimmik !

Note : I have never seen / used / heard "dapic"... but I have used pioneer and sony.

I know we are OT but here are some clarifications.

1. Today as parents we do consult or atleast take the child's opinion on which schools they like.

2. GTO is the Super Admin. He founded and today solely finances TBHP. So we should all be very grateful to him.

3. Now why would you take up Mech. Engg if you were interested in girls. Didn't your parents teach you anything :-)

Re: Please help on car music system :DAPIC make.

I have been using this DAPIC head unit on my Santro for about 3 months now.
No problems as yet, I got it for 3500 bucks and has got USB, AUX connectivity and works perfectly fine with my Samsung phone. Plays mp3 and mp4 as well. Looks good with a quite large display area. This was a last moment choice after I had almost fixed my mind on a Pioneer model with similar features. What made me go for it was the larger display area on the DAPIC and the fact that it was a whole 1200 bucks cheaper than the Pioneer model. So far no issues, plus there is a 12 month warranty on it . So not much to worry I guess.

Could you please guide me as in whether I should purchase one or go for only with established brands like kenwood, pioneer, alpine etc.

The model supports ipod also...The website is:

Please let me know...

Thanks and regards,

Why would you buy Dapic when you can get a Sony for almost the same price ? A Sony 100 series HU costs roughly 4 K .

@greatmama2000, why would you buy a Sony when a Pio HU costs the same??? No prejudices, but a Dapic is not really inferior to a Sony, and a Sony is not clearly superior to a Dapic at that level of HUs.

OK , the reason is that the sony one offers ipod /iphone support and it kind of has pre outs . The Pio Hu when i checked last was not avaliable at the same price . The sony was quoted at 3900 about 6 months back . The pio Hu were all over 5K . I am talking abt the bill and warranty stuff .
I have not listened to the Dapic models in recent times , but the earlier ones used to reek of cheap quality .

These days I seem to have lost interest with HU as I mostly listen to FLac and none of the HU support that .

I have installed a DAPIC bass tube in the boot of my car ,1000 watt PMPO with in built amp for 7.5 K, wiring etc. another 1 K , sounds good, seems to be Value for money. Got it before a month. Long term reliability yet to be tested.

THanks

Re: Please help on car music system :DAPIC make.

Got a Dapic 2 Din HU (KX-9220N) with touch screen display, Bluetooth and Navigator on my Ford Classic. I didn't like the whole sound feel from the HU. Even after connecting a JBL 4 channel amp, JBL component speakers in front, 6" ovals in the rear and JBL 1200W Bass tube, the sound quality is mediocre. Tried playing with the graphical equalizer and the Amp, but no improvements. I will not recommend this HU for anyone if you are paying for it (i got mine free of cost from a friend). Only good thing that I felt about it is the Map my India Navigation system given with it. Provides the same navigation accuracy as my old Map My India Stand alone navigator.

1. What exectly do you feel is lacking? It is partly to be expected, but if it is despite using external amp and components, there is something fundamentally wrong here

2. Who tuned your system? Was it tuned at all?

3. '6" ovals in the rear' are either 6" round, or 6x9 ovals - which is it? Where is it mounted - rear doors or parcel shelf?

4. Bass Tube: not being pessimistic, but a Bass Tube can detract from listening to the rest of the system properly. The boomy resonant bass can prevent other parts of music being heard well if it is a tad too loud and the brain is rebelling

I doubt if it will be a hopelessly lost case for you if you go about it systematically, instead of just 'playing around'.

Thanks a lot @DerAlte for the reply.
1. By lacking feel, I meant that the sound seems too flat. I am not sure about the technical terms to explain the same. Can give a non stop speech for hours about the car, but when i hit the ICE, its a white board. It seems like no bass is reproduced by the speakers even if i set the bass at max.
2. Tuning was done by a nearby shop guy in kerala. He had done the same for my old lancer and he did a good job on that. Also, he connected a Pioneer HU without changing the settings on the Amp and the sound reproduction was excellent.
3. I am sorry about that , it is 6x9 ovals, mounted on the parcel shelf.
4. Personally I like the bass tube, but its not causing any disturbance as there is no audible output from that. But it was giving proper output when connected with the Pioneer HU.

I am planning to do a last check with a good ICE installer in Pune. Now searching the forum to identify someone. Meanwhile, after going through all the inputs from ICE gurus in the forum, I will be doing some proper checks other than "Playing around".
