hyper, I just got through to a friend who works in MICO. He gave me
17K approx too. And the Memphis is 26750/- exactly. And he also said that getting the HU from abroad will *cough* *cough* give you a better deal (especially if you consider the Memphis). Most Blau joints will do paid service for imported HUs, and will not charge for very minor jobs if you ask nicely enough. My guy here is very co-operative in that respect (for my out of warranty equipment I bought from him).

Hydra, Thanks. I have to find out how much i can get the St. Louis MP56 w/o BW in Bangy...Any idea where i can go to? Memphis (even w/o BW) would be wayyyy beyond my budget, although it definitely has a far better display.

hyper, I'm afraid I have no exact idea abut bangy, but the usual well known installers -- Auto Fusion, Sound Factor, etc should be able to help you.

IMHO the Memphis is wayyyyy overpriced for the features. The screen is sexyyyy but not worth the extra moolah. The St.Louis and Memphis are about the same, feature-wise. They are probably the same SQ wise too.

guys... Blau HU's in India are way overpriced for the SQ etc.. I have also been a Blau user till recently...had paid 15K for the Sevilla MP54 last year... I coud have gotten much better units form othere brands for much less for the same SQ and features..( unfortunately Team Bhp was not known to me then).. Blau is not what it used to be frankly....

If you have a budget of 20K plus for a HU go for the Kenwood k-CD-01.. The best unit under the 1000 dollar club..and is available for way less..a steal for the price...

I would honestly suggest the Pioneer 6850. No fuss, good sound and i know it sounds good with the GTO507C.

Thanks Sam, navin, hydra and everyone, i would get the 6850 today. As my budget was 10K, Alpine and Blau would be like shootong it. I would save the moolah for a better Amp. That leaves the Amp and GTO937 for next month. Sam 1 small question, the front 507c seems to me emitting a bit more treble than i like. I saw in the 507c brochure that there is a setting of 0db and 3db in the crossover. I suspect they may have set it to 3db. Would setting it to 0db decrease the treble or increase it? It was written 0db is the reference level, does it mean it is the benchmark? Confused :-(

No need for confusion baba. You are right, they have probably set it at +3dB. Put the switch to 0dB and the treble will reduce.

Thanks Sam. Unfortunately they have placed the Crossover inside the door pad. I dont want to open it myself. I would get it checked and changed when i go to install the HU today.

Installed 6850. The difference in SQ was tremendous. To be very frank, today i realized the quality of the frony 507C. WOW!!! I would put in the GTO937 next month. With so much bass i am still wondering if i really need the AMP or not. Lets see...am enjoying music now....

Great, hyper! You happy = we happy :-)

The GTO937 will give you even better bass. Think of the amp upgrade only after that, then. And in any case, installing in stages keeps you happier longer, and is easier on the wallet.

Enjoy!
