ICE for Lancer, need suggestions

hey guys
this is what i have decided for my lancer uptil now

Subwoofers - 2x Image Dynamics IDQ12D2 (Rs. 25,200)
After going thru this thread http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/car-en...monoblock.html & also some discussion with Tool on MSN, i think these suit my demands best. I listen to all genres from psytrance, house, drum n bass to rock, hip-hop, industrial. also occasional UK Bhangra as well as Indi. so the kind of subs im looking for are the ones which hit every note while hearing 140BPM GMS as well as goes loud & deep while listening to 50 Cent. These (from what i heard/read) are the best balance between SQ & SPL in the price range. Will be putting them in a sealed enclosure (around 1cu.ft. each)

Sub Amplifier - Alpine MRD-M1005 CLASS D ($340)
Seems to be a good amp for the price. My dad or uncle will be getting it from the US around next month. its 1000x1 RMS @ 2ohm (14.4) so it should be enough to feed the IDQs.

Speaker Amplifier - JBL GTO 75.4 (Rs. 11,000)
I Did not want to spend a lot for the speaker amp. This seems to be a good VFM buy. enough to power 6" comps upfront & 6x9s in the rear.

Capacitor - Soundstream 1 Farad ($100) {Already Bought}
Nothing much to say, decent capacitor i guess.

& Now The Confusion!!!!

Head Unit - After going thru this http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/car-en...vs-8850-a.html
i somewhat made up my mind earlier that i will settle with the Kenwood 8529 over the Pioneer 8850 but lately, im having second thoughts. Is there another HU in the same price range (17-18k) which will satisfy my needs? or shall i just go for the Kenwood?

Speakers - Totally Blank. Need suggestions on this. Was looking at Hertz Energy Series & also Inifnity Reference Series. Budget is 12-13k for both front 6" 2 way comps as well as rear 6x9s. Quoted 7+5 for the Reference by a dealer. Also if any other brands fit in my budget, which ones? (polk/kicker/inf.kappa/blaupunkt)
Also, if you guys think i can change anything from the above mentioned (except the capacitor) please drop in some views.

thanks in advance

You can consider Illusion for speakers. For HU You can get 8850 or P80 within your budget.

So far you seem to be doing well in your choices, so i won't confuse you further. A lot of people think the Kenwood would sound better than the pioneer.

Psst- the GTO75.4 normally costs much higher than that, you've got a good deal there, I know the amplifier isn't available in the grey market, so what gives? And it's got a LOT of power, much more than required to drive just speakers. It normally costs 14 grand, very good for it's sound, but VFM is debatable lol

The 8529 is now for Rs 14k with B&W (as per last information). Kenwood now has the 9533U out that is an updated 8529 with USB. At this time I would go for the 9533U. Re Pioneer, Speedofreak also got his Pio P80 from the US for 14k (its expensive in Asia, more like 20k+). Both are great HUs. Take your pick.

Gamer, I am not too impressed with the Alpine 1005 (as I have said many times elsewhere). See if you can find their earlier 1001 mono.

Re speakers, I suggest the Kappas over the Reference. Its a no brainer, if your budget permits then the Kappas are of course the higher model and the better speaker.

Cheers

HU: Kenwood 9533 or Clarion 865 (retails for US$ 299) And their 2007 lineup has renamed it 866 I think. As of late, not very fond of P80 due to their high price.

Speakers: Hertz ESK 165 + ECX 165!! Best in this price range for my ears.

I have said this before and will probably say this again.

USE YOUR EARS. This statement is valid for all of audio be it a HU, AMP, Speaker, Home Theater system etc.... I dont know why people dont follow this principle. Hertz, Infinity, Alpine, Dynaudio, Polk, Morel, Illusion, etc... all cater to different tastes. Find one that suits yours best.

At the higher price ranges the differences are more subtle and all of the brands mentioned above are quite well built so it really only boils down to a personal preference.

Hydro, Zak and Tool for example love Hertz, others prefer JBL, etc... and a few extreme nut jobs like myself are never satisfied.

navinji,
if it was possible for me to 'hear' those brands, i would probably not post so many questions here.
the problem is none of these installers got a demo car or something which i can hear (atleast am not aware of any). max, i can listen to a friend's car audio or get reviews from t-bhp (which is far better than taking advices from the installers).
Anyways, i will definately try to hear as many brands as possible before picking up..
thanks

I'm chipping in a bit late, but I guess Zak, Tool & Navin have got my suggestions for speakers covered :-D

And for the amp, I'd also back the JBL 75.4.

2 x IDQ with the Hertz speakers will really rock. Do make sure that you get the enclosures right. Why 2 enclosures? For more flexibility? Maybe a single enclosure (partitioned well and sealed well) maybe cheaper. But if you have the boot space and the money, I'd back the separate enclosure plan.
