TATA NEXON too has the same feature. It turns off the ACC supply and Infotainment Unit once the driver door is opened after turning off the car. The Headunit can again be started by turning it ON manually for around 60mins or so.

Many other cars will switch off the ICE along with an engine shut down. No need to open the door. (Eg. Suzuki S-Cross).
If anyone wants to listen to music, the ACC supply to be turned on.

Yup, I can attest this same 'feature' for a Mercedes GLC 200 As well. Same thing happens. I thought this was a 'bug' too. Seems like door ajar, whenm the engine is off, signals that's its time for complete non-essential switch off.

As many have pointed out many cars have this and its a convenience feature. Its nice to have because the general use case is that you want to get out when you open the door, so it makes sense to shut off everything when the driver door is opened. Many vehicles (Fords at least) also allow you to use the power windows till the time the doors are opened. In our Figo, any ongoing Bluetooth call will also switch to the phone automatically when the door is opened.
This is in addition to the other general warnings that happen when the door is opened such as forgetting to completely turn off all lights etc.

Have the same feature in my Ford Freestyle.

It is a great boon when I am driving alone (say to office). Simply step off the car without having to bother about turning of the ICE.

It is an irritant when wife gets off the car to buy something and I am let alone in the parking.

The trick is, do not turn off engine till wife gets off...simple!

Its the same in Nexon, while the door is closed the occupant is in the car, when the door is opened it is usually when the occupant is leaving the car and so the music switches off.

Even if one ignores the warning on ICE about battery drain and continues to keep it running, it'll eventually shut off by itself after some time in case of Seltos. If not for this feature, the same people who were enjoying the music may later be asked to get down and push the car

This feature is there in my S60 too. Definitely not a bug. And I think it is useful, because otherwise won't you have to switch off the system manually each time? Your Civic must be starting by turning the key itself, unlike these cars with a start stop button

Guess this feature should be more in line with keyless systems ? If the key is still inserted, it need not turn off the music right ?

Yes, it is indeed a feature and a good one too. Tata Altroz has this exact feature and it makes sense. However, many cars don't have this and the infotainment system goes off immediately after the ignition is turned off via the "button" (start stop button is indeed a downgrade rather than a feature!!!). Is there a way to keep the infotainment system (and also probably the instrument cluster) wired to turn off along with the driver door open event and keep it on after the ignition goes off? Is there a dependable relay or something for this purpose that we can install for any BS6 vehicles?
